Very nice place with toilet and covered seating
The sites ^^^ are covered picnic tables. There seems to be fencing screens to block some of the wind (this would be helpful when cooking, as long as the gnats aren’t too bad.
Water is crystal clear! Hidden gem for sure
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Was the only overnight camper in this spot (surprisingly for the 4th of July) but there were a few campers at other sites along the lake. Got in early enough to enjoy paddle boarding and loved the easy access to the beautiful lake and warm water! Dog loved it too. Some locals came and used the spot for swimming during the evening too. Then the mosquitoes came- more than I’ve ever seen anywhere- and they were out for blood. No amount of bug spray would allow us to be outside. Beautiful spot but hard to enjoy with the bugs!
Report Check-InVery secluded lake. Currently flooded so we didn't make it out to the water.
Report Check-In4 different covered picnic tables and put toilets. I stayed dusk to dawn and there were too many bugs to stay outside my vehicle. But very quiet spot on the way to Jackson. Lots of other random spots around the lake too.
Report Check-InBeautiful lake! We camped 5 days here and enjoyed swimming and relaxing on the beach. Quiet during the week and even on the weekend no one else camped overnight. Pit toilets were a plus!
Report Check-InFew insects, mainly flies, just a few mosquitos. Lake is cold and crystal clear in June. Toilet is open.
Report Check-InWhat an amazing place. 5 sites here and a couple more around the bend to the West. It’s a summer Tuesday and I’m the only one here. 2 bars Verizon LTE just gave me 56 meg download / 10 meg upload. Someone mentioned water available and I think they were confused. I see no potable water, but an amazing lake! Some mosquitos but not crazy right now. Plan on using bug spray. This is 11 miles down a paved road from the main highway. Off the beaten path but worth the trip.
Report Check-InHad plans to stay here for a week. But when we got there we noticed the swarms of mosquitoes, which was a no-go for us. But for those who don't mind the swarms at the time of year we went, there are picnic shelters and restrooms. The lake looked nice, and it was in the area of Boysen Reservoir but without the price tag.
Report Check-InThis is a hidden gem for sure. The water is crystal clear and we had one area all to ourselves. There are about 4 spots with 3-5 camping spots per area. Highly recommend this spot!
Report Check-InGreat spot!! There's two other people/campsites taken but a marvelous spot for an overnight or even two
Report Check-InBeautiful, developed campsite off a paved, well maintained road. There are small enclosures that serve well as wind-blocks at each campsite. There are also well maintained pit toilets. The lake itself is pristine on the foothills by Boysen State Park. It is quite windy, but an absolutely beautiful place to camp for a night or a few nights.
Report Check-InAll that could be said has been said.
You can not really ask for better peace place.
About 15 minutes from the main road but worth the trip.
Great spot! Very quiet and peaceful. No one around, just us on a private little beach. Went for a swim, water is clear and warm.
Report Check-InA tiny lake with several covered picnic tables scattered along the shore. Some are three sided for wind protection, others just have roofs. Charcoal/wood BBQs are usually present at each table.
The pit toilets were clean and didn't smell. The area was really clean; let's all help to keep it that way.
A few other campers were parked around the lake, but we were the only folks in our camp area. The lake must be good for fishing, people showed up in the morning with a motor boat, and others with fishing rods.
The water was really clean, and we were able to rinse off in the morning. If it was warmer out it would be nice for a swim.
The lake is located in a large prairie valley with mountains off in the distance. Pretty view but not spectacular. The roads in were great, certainly no 4x4 required. The camp area wasn't especially flat, but we managed to find a comfortable spot.
Big rigs could definitely fit in some of these spots, but may have a hard time finding level ground unless they have their own levelers. If you bring your big RV, please respect the tranquility of the place and leave your generator at home.
Indeed a very nice spot directly at the shore. Shades, picknick facilities and a clean pit toilet with paper. Some bugs but as they are not moskitos they do not bother. Lots of birds and fish (bring your fishing gear) We had an excellent AT&T connection. Stayed two nights. Free!
Report Check-InIntense bugs, big and little ones, hard to be outside they were so bad.
Very windy.
Quiet with the exception of the little lapping waves the chirp of crickets. Very buggy if you have any sort of light on after dark. Great for us as we aren’t here to relax and swim, only to get a good nights sleep.
Report Check-InBeautiful and very quiet in November but icycold so no swimming and no bugs ;-)
Foggy but no wind. Clean pittoilets.
