This is a stone tub hot springs located off of Whitmore Tubs Rd - it used to be a part of the river, however the water was unpredictable in its temps, and the spot was amended to include a source pool from which the water is piped and the temperature can be regulated with a valve. Popular with mountain skiers/riders; late afternoon can be busy.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
We arrived at 2pm and there was just one other person in the tub. The water was at about 93° - a little cool, but warmed up closer to 100° once the valve was fully opened on the pipe. Beautiful views. By 4pm many others (skiers/boarders) from the local mountains had dropped in looking for a spot. The tub can fit 4-5 adults comfortably. There’s parking for a handful of vehicles.
Report Check-InStill a lovely spot, you can camp right by the hot spring in the carpark. About 3 or 4 vans here and good chats with other van people when using the spring. Absolutely stunning views of the mountains too. Road is bumpy but doable for most vehicles.
Report Check-InGot here about 5:30pm on a Friday and the parking lot right next to the hot springs was full (4 cars) but a few feet away was a nice little bump-out spot big enough for one van. I plan on spending the night so this little quiet spot is perfect! Road to get to the hot springs was a little rocky but my van doesn’t have 4WD and it made it fine.
Report Check-InAt the beginning of the Memorial Day weekend, we were surprised how few people are in this lovely spot out in the flats of the Owens Valley. The hot spring is great at 104F, the other folks here are pleasant. It’s a bit windy, with no protection. Plenty of parking, although some spots are sloped and would need leveling blocks. Road in is suitable for any vehicle, with a bit of washboard. There are many other locations close by if this one was not to your liking.
Report Check-InWonderful hot spring. A few convenient camping and van parking spots though hard to get level. Drive in is bumpy but manageable for vehicles w decent clearance.
Was magical at dusk w light snow flurries.
Report Check-InEnough space for 4-6 van/car campers depending on how people are parked. I do not recommend a trailer. The entrance to the hot spring is rocky at the beginning and may need a semi-high clearance vehicle or at least some driving skills (A Prius had made it in). The hot spring has a valve you can adjust to regulate the temperature. Hot spring can fit 5-6 people but it gets tight and can be a busy area. Lovely views.
Report Check-InPlease don’t camp right at the hot springs for all of our sake... fire rings and trash are good excuses for BLM to close access and ruin this area for everyone
Report Check-Inwow quel bel endroit.
une source d'eau chaude entouré de belle grosse montagne enneigée.
regarder le ciel étoilé dans le bassin, c'était magique
Amazing spot ! Unreal views , and a natural hot spring tub right at your door step. There were 3 other camper vans there , but was a great time. Nice place to relax and meet other travellers. Very quiet at night.
Report Check-InArrived here around 8pm on a Thursday.
Four people in the hot spring and a few campers and cars around!
Still a lot of cars rocking up.
We will try out the springs during the day tomorrow.
The stars at night here are to die for!!!
No “no overnight camping signs”
Report Check-InDo not camp right at the hot springs ... that is rude to other who want to use it while you are busy at your campsite. This is a shared resource. Keep the area clean. BLM is looking for an excuse to close it down or restrict it.
Report Check-InWhat a sweet sweet spot ! Fantastic view of the sierra, natural hot spring that fits up to 6. Can get quite busy during the night (came on a friday evening). MUST STOP HERE
Report Check-InThis place is a gem out here! Apparently it's pretty popular but nice overall.
Report Check-InHere a Thursday night, really famous spot apparently, so many cars until late at night, people were partying in the smallllll tub; but so nice in the morning when everyone was gone :-) don't need a 4x4, but gravel and bumpy road !
Report Check-InAs described, nice place to stay with a hot pot right at your doorstep! When we were there it got quite crowded after sunset, but thankfully no partying.
Report Check-Innice spot with amazing scenery. we stayed in a Saturday night in the summer and it wasn't too busy. we saw maybe 5 groups from 3:00 pm but had the tub to ourself for much of the evening. i can see it may get busy at times and the tub is quite small.
Report Check-InVery nice place. We stayd here from the morning and it was very quite but after dark its getting crowdet and its was not so nice any more.... anyway we staid over night but left very quick after sunrise.
Report Check-InFree pull off to camp near a natural springs hot tub which was amazing! Beautiful scenery too. Recommend parking away from the hot tub as several people showed up at 4am to use the hot tub and party.
Report Check-InThis is one out of several options to camp along Hot Creek, a river with a water temperature of about 100 degree Fahrenheit you can soak in.
