If you keep going past the big spot next to the river there is another spot that is nice! Pretty tight to get in, and lots of mosquitoes in the evening. But you can still access the river for fishing.

Beautiful FREE campground, well- maintained, good amount of scavengable firewood, small creek, fire pits, picnic tables, bathroom/pit. Only downside is partially visible highway. 10/10.

Tranquil spot along the 138. There is signage on the highway to follow. Pit toilet. Campfire rings and a rock stove. Free! The bugs can be annoying but we set up a bait of food while we ate and chilled to draw them away.

Truly incredible campsite. Free, beautiful and fairly quiet. It’s next to the road but at night very few vehicles are on it. When you first pull in straightahead there is a clearing with a few spots by the bathroom house and there’s also a road straightahead of there but I recommend not going down that road. There is only one spot on that road and it’s not that great and if it’s taken it’s nearly impossible to turn around if you’re in a van or larger. My recommendation is to take the left immediately after turning into the campsite and find a site there. There’s only a few options but I took the first one on the left side right along the creek and had an incredible few nights there. Bonus is that there is a workable cell phone signal with T-Mobile but other than that a great place to have a fire and listen to the creek all night.

There are also some waterfalls and Hot Springs just about 20 minutes west from the campsite. Highly recommend.

It's still here!! an awesome place, plenty of spots directly left as you come in or the main one with the toilet at it! there's also a creek if you go down to the other spots several of them back right up to the creek!

Great sites! Cool old wood stove with a griddle, chimney, fire pit. Neat picnic tables, clean pit toilet. Close to the road so will hear road noise.

Great free camping just off the highway. Lots of the other campgrounds were full and this spot is basically a campground just without a water tap. Nice spots with picnic tables.

Thielsen Forest camp fairly close to road, but small track further back. Free, new toilet, tables, fire rings and wood stoves. Track to the left just as you turn in leads to 3 campsites and turnaround. Creek just past the turnaround.

In a clearing among large trees. Particularly a small gravel parking with tables/benches, fire ring and outdoor wood stove. AT&T reception and a pit toilet are the only amenities. Close to the road, but nice for a night. Free and no „no overnight„ sign.

Thiseldon forest camp is the sign from the road. Not much room and looks new, benches and fire pits available along with a toilet block. Close to the highway but free (all other sites are $5-10 a night)

Amazing spot in the forest not far from the road. There’re a few dirtspots you can park/set up a tent. Firepits too and a little brick stove.
Bathrooms !
No signs, free.

Keep it clean (don’t try to burn your beer cans as the previous camper) :)

Good place with wood stove, table, area to fire and pit toilets in midle of trees. Shadow all day. Near a small creek. Cold at night fresh during the day.
