Description

Beautiful Park of 14.000 Ha with lots of animals : chimpanzees, gorillas, wild dogs, antilopes, buffalos, and ... Mandrills!
Chimpanzees and Gorillas are victims of poaching and the project of Eric and Clotilde (French couple in charge of the park) is to protect them and at the end reintegrate them into the forest

You can do nice safaris there, 10.000 cfa per person each safari.
IMPORTANT : open only week ends and holidays and you have to book your safari(s) in advance. The email is on their website.

We did the Mandrilles safari twice. AMAZING ! We spent 20 minutes observing them. Crazy experience !
And also the "Vision Faune" safari (meet Jojo the gorilla, and many chimpanzees and cross a long suspended bridge)
We were allowed to sleep inside the park with access to showers, toilets and water (it's not a camping)
They are not looking for tourist money ! They open their doors just for allowing us to discover a precious wildlife so please respect the place and above all respect the animals
This place is a small paradise. We totally recommend to go there :)

we weren't allowed by the director to camp inside. since we had booked a tour for the next day, we decided to camp at the gate, where we were welcomed by the friendly guard. The tour was beautiful, but we saw only the apes in cages. mandrill you have to announce before if you want to see.

We stayed the entire weekend at the park and had a great experience. You can camp right in front of the chimpanzee enclosure! The mandrills can go out of the park so although the chance is high you will see them, there’s no 100% guarantee. We didn’t see them the first day, but the next day they were back (after being away for 10 days). Make sure you make a reservation via the contact form on the website https://lekedi-biodiversite.org/

Very nice! We were allowed to camp inside the park (they didn’t mind that we have a dog as long as we keep her on a leash). You camp right next to the Chimpanzee enclosure, there’s even running water and a toilet. The park itself is quite interesting, as described in the comment below there are chimps, a gorilla, mandrills and some impala. The chimps and gorilla are in enclosures, so there is a sort of „zoo-feeling“ to watching them. The mandrills roam around the park on their own and also regularly leave the park for multiple days. We were lucky that we got to see them. Overall a very good spot for spending a few relaxed days and learning something about the animals. We only paid 10.000 pP including the Safari tour, park entrance and camping for 4 nights. We can definitely recommend it 😊
