Description

Absolutely loved this place! A bit if a rocky, steep descent down to the creek, but our Chevy Cruze made it. Absolutely worth the effort. Set up our tent on a level surface right above a babbling creek. A few other campers nearby, everyone was very friendly and kept to themselves. Cool at night, view of Long’s Peak above the trees, amazing stars.

Gorgeous place that seemed pretty popular, but we managed to find a space. A bear walked through, so keep your food locked up!

Great spot - you drive through what looks to be a neighborhood but you’ll eventually hit national forest. Drove it in a 2wd suv all the way down to the river and it was fine. It’s further than this pin suggests, I just kept going down roads until I found a spot I liked, which happened to be next to the river.

Great creekside campsites all along this road! I had no trouble parking a 19' trailer here & at a spot about 0.5 miles further along. A larger RV could be tough to maneuver.

most all of the campsites are heavily wooded. there are only a few spots where you could fit anything larger than a van/pickup. even fewer spots that have good sky visibility for Starlink and/or solar. this particular spot should have plenty of sky for both. there are a couple spots further down the road that can accommodate solar & SL, but not many.

there's a pizza shop in allenspark and small/expensive gas station in ferncliff with propane & some grocery items. there's also an absolutely delicious & free fresh water spring in allenspark to fill up water! and a landfill transfer station across the highway for trash! perfect spot!
