Description

In the Colca Valley, north side of the river, about 5 km downstream of Coporaque. Big smooth parking lot slanting toward the river. Park staff left brand new and clean toilets open for us. Quiet and free. The ruins are like a mini Machu Picchu without 2500 daily tourists.

Site is now free to visit. They just ask you to register if someone is here. No issue spending the night. Nice walk to the ruins and the waterfall. Dog friendly. Parking is slanted, but with some blocks it is ok. Quiet overnight (until 5am with the megaphone car :)). Bathrooms are open but there is no longer running water it seems, so bucket flush.

No water today at all. 5Soles p.P. to visit. Camping possible at the nice and clean parking.

Nice archeological site. I won’t say that is something like a little Machu Picchu, but cool to visit for 2 hours (climb till the waterfall, the view is nice)
We don’t spend a night but seem pretty cool and quiet for a night

Access to the ruins are now free.
It's a steep 600m climb up to the ruins. Don't know if I would call them a mini Machu Pichu (No Inca masonry), but still cool. There are walls of lots of houses. One larger building is totally reconstructed with a roof. Irrigation canal running through the middle of town. Easy to spend and hour or two.
We camped in the large parking lot. Quiet and clean bathrooms. But the slope is just at that limit of being too much. There are some options to flatten out if you are creative.
