Something not right?

Description

Great place to stay at the base of El Potrero Chico. It has the most unobstructed view of the mountain right from the campsite. Friendly hosts, clean site, with new bathhouse, shower, and toilet. Cold showers, common area with swimming pool. Electric with long extension cord. WiFi available, but was down due to windstorm while we were here. Walking distance to a few small restaurants. Grocery store, propane, and fuel in Hidalgo, about a mile and a half away. If you are a rock climber, enjoy hikong, or just a beautiful view, check this one out for sure! Unfortunately Homero has passed, but his family continues to operate.

Perfect spot to visit Potrero Chico. Right in front of the huge rock.

As described previously. Homero's seems to be the "budget" campground on this strip. $150 pesos per night with discounts available for longer stays. It's not too fancy, but the wifi, electricity, and bathrooms are all fine. El Protrero Chico towers over the place, and there are mountain views in just about every direction. I've met two of the brothers, Ivan and Daniel. They are as friendly as they can possibly be.

It's late October and the local establishments are getting ready for the climbing season. Some are open, some are not.

Stayed here for two nights. They asked for 300 pesos per night. Electricity. Dump. It’s a very very basic gravel lot, but has a lot of history to it and great company! Not very many people were staying. Homeros son is now running the show but they honour the history that his dad had made in EPC. Apparently they were one of only campgrounds at first💜 there’s a pic with over 100 people celebrating in their common lobby! there’s a common kitchen, fireplace, picnic tables, bathrooms, multiple showers with hot water (it’s touchy so you have to be patient and find it at the right spot).

They make special exceptions for you if you ask, don’t be afraid to speak up. Multi day deals, weekly, monthly. Water. Cabin. Etc. Nice quick walk to entrance of park. You can walk next door to get tacos, across the road to get beer. It got busy with locals on the Saturday night, but nothing rowdy.

We spent three nights here hiking in the area (as we are not climbers).

Heard mixed reviews about the showers from people who had been there for awhile. However, we took two showers each and had full hot water the entire time ( we did not use the shower that says hot water on it, use the one on the left)
The WiFi was pretty meh, not consistent. However, when it worked we could watch Netflix, YouTube, and so on. Could not download anything at all though.
Overall too pricey for what it is. However this area is a tourist hotspot and everything is too pricey for what it is :)
.... location is amazing, best view of mountains compared to other campgrounds.

This campground is open. May have been closed during rock climbing's off season this past summer, not sure, but now it is open. $100p/pp/night. Showers are hot. Decent WiFi. Great view and feels very secure. Fellow campers staying at another place called la posada said the showers have very small water heaters so you don't really get a hot shower. So I feel like this is a good deal. The owner answers emails, [email protected]. Would stay here again.

Doesn't look like you can camp here anymore. All closed up. No one in sight.

The street is full of campgrounds and you can also sleep in your van in the canyon. You'll find the spot after the second gates (first gate is orange and it's written Potrero Chico, so go further). We slept there when the weather was nice and went to the coffee shop El Buho in town for wifi and toilets (staff is awesome just like there food and drinks!!!!!) By the way, El Potrero Chico is an incredible climbing spot, lots n lots of climbers are here and people mainly come for that.

Stayed there for about 4-5 days during cold and rainy days. I think everything has already been said in the previous comments. The community kitchen is really cool especially if you don't want to use your own camping stove and dishes. They run a little restaurant as well.
It isn't the cheapest place in the area for what you get so go ask around as some places can offer nice deals depending on how many nights you stay.

The best place to stay after the border. Lots of climber's people and very beautiful view on Portrero Chico.

Collective kitchen with propane, bbq, very fast wifi, potable water but cold shower.

The price is now 100/adult and 80/children...

Just wanted to give an update on Homero's. The wifi is down, and seems to have been so for a long while. The showers are hot and the water I was told was potable - no issues drinking it for the past two days.
