feeling a bit robbed we had to pay mchinji district council fee. Malawian hadn't to pay, only foreigners. really not sure we should have pay for it but they did not want to let us go through otherwise

maybe we were lucky
I can't recall if there was a checkpoint, and whether it was manned or not. In any case no one asked for any fee.
Report Check-InWe checked with the customs officials at the border and they confirmed you have to pay this fee, it's official. Motorbike is as much as a car: 5.000 kwatcha. You get a receipt.
