Guyana
Northbound the ferry is free of charge, for the southbound transfer a ticket needs to be bought at the Western Union facility at one of the Survival supermarkets in Georgetown. If you are lucky a ticket may be sold on-site if you didn't get it in Georgetown, but that is not sure. It is signposted that no tickets are sold on site. We paid GYD 7,000.

normal ferry.
40USD for one way with a Defender.
We waited 30mins until departure at 15:00.
Report Check-InApresentamos apenas o passaporte. Continua gratuito no sentido norte.
Report Check-InStill free in direction Georgetown. Didn't need to show anything.
Report Check-InAs described.....
Reverse onto ferry from Lethem side. Just before ferry is a customs checkpoint. Have original passports and TIP ready. Ferry free going towards Georgetown.
Free for motorcycles. Means also you may have to wait until there’s other paying vehicles around before the ferry starts the hourly service. Nice free campspot directly at ferry boarding in the northern side.
Report Check-InComing from Lethem. Police check of documents before boarding. We caught the last ferry a bit after 18.00, but check with police first whether last ferry already left.
Report Check-InAs advised by the other iOv posts, we bought our ticket in Georgetown but when we got here we were assured there is no problem buying a ticket here. We declared our full vehicle weight (5900kg) when we bought the ticket (over 4100lbs = GYD17,000!!!), which may have been a mistake as no one seemed to look at this when we boarded. Unless you are obviously massively into the top price category, you might want to buy a much cheaper ticket for a smaller rig (under 4100lbs = 11,000GYD) and hope they don't check your vehicle docs for weight.
Report Check-InThe ferry is free of charge for motobikes. On the north shore of the river there is a small restaurant which sells food for lunch. The food is cheap and very good.
