Description

The soon-to-be world famous hostel located inside the most beautiful place you could imagine. It's surrounded by green mountains, and they've managed to build the craziest constructions out here, giving you a down to earth feeling as everything is ecological. This place is hands down the best hostel we've ever been to. Not only do they serve great cheap food, but the showers are hot and the tours you can do in the area is nothing but amazing fun and stunning.

If you want to go here with your vehicle, it needs 4x4 or you won't stand a chance. We drove our motorcycles on the dirt road leading to this place, and then drove them down the staircase to the hostel from the parking spaces for big overland vehicles.

Google this place for pictures. No outside food or drinks on the premises, don't worry the food is really good and cheap.

70q for a dorm bed
200q for private house
30q for house breakfast
50q for dinners.
60-160q for the tours

nice place got the private riverside..
not really a river small very small steam..

Report Check-In

Pros: Nice location, facilities and pool. The food is very good but quite expensive and EXTREMELY slow. Volunteers were also super nice.

Cons: The owner and his friend treat the guests badly and see them only as cashcows on top of treating the workers like idiots.
On Sundays he harrases guest to go on a special local trip aka “charity” giving candies to children and going to see the maya community...
Green are just the trees around the houses. No solar because apparently “too expensive”. Closing the generators between 12 to 4 (both am and pm) which means no electricity. Wifi stops working at 7pm.
Shuttle from Lanquin free with 2nights reservation, shuttle to Lanquin 25Q because they have “costs”.
2/10 would not come again.

definitely not amazing. I reckon this post is the owner or friend.
in regards to Overland's ring, they have no secure parking. however you can get a Moto down some stairs, but it's a pain.
the place is not as nice as the post before suggests. I moved on to el portal which is much nicer and 20 q cheaper. (50q for a dorm bed). it's also 20metrea from the entrance to semuc and right on the river. they have a parking area that is closed at night.

Road from Lanqyuin is rough, 4x4 recommended but trucks make it everyday, nice to have some clearance. maybe if wet and rainy 4x4 is necessary. If you have your own rig no sense to park on a concrete sloped platform far away from the river better to go on the family run park with toilet just passed the bridge, you can sleep there for 30-40 qz and you are on the river close to the entry of the park. After such an amazing review we decide to go and check it. Not our cup of tea, double with bath 275qz, without bath 200 qz. Fine crafted little rooms, not too local , If you want to meet white people , eat pizza or Tajin go there, if you like to listen to Mayan language or at least Spanish go somewhere else.

This might even sound like a surreal ad, but no, it's just so pretty and amazing here that you have no idea until you see it.
