Nicaragua
New hotel in town two blocks from the highway in Somotillo town. It doesn't have a sign yet but it's the best place and with wifi we could find in Somotillo before crossing the border. It's on front of Fritanga Reyes and next to Barbería Junior. Just ask someone and they'll probably let you know (on second street in town to the left after the river coming from ). Very nice owner. Very clean, spacious, basic, with private bathroom (just separate with a curtain) and nice bed. With fan. Big parking lot and safe at night (they close the gate). Quiet too and the owner is a nice Nicaraguan lady that lived in USA for a bit so she speaks English too. 700cordobas for the private room. We got a discount if you ask nicely:) I guess you could ask if you could sleep in the car if you need to be cheaper. Recommended!

$30 USD for a room with A/C; I had arrived by bicycle and was too hot and tired to negotiate. Good A/C, strong WiFi, cold showers but good water pressure. Broken toilet seat but otherwise clean. I had been dreading Somotillo but this was fine, if maybe a little overpriced.
Report Check-InWhile the owners were polite, but our interactions were awkward. The room cost $25USD. I gave them $30 and they seemed to have trouble with making change. So I gave the owner $5 and he left. His partner said he when to get change. That was confusing as all he had to do was give me back the $10 I gave him. It took 15 minutes before he returned giving me my $10...I'm confused with the whole interaction.
In the room, there is AC, but the wires are dangling from the unit and there is a lot of electrical tape.
The drape for the window covers 80% of the windows, so there isn't full privacy.
The bathroom was clean but in disrepair. The toilet seat was broken and left unattached.
It was a secure place to stay for the night and that is what I was looking for.
I slept well, roosters, dogs, trucks, motorcycles and all...life on the road :)
Fairly run down and basic. 2 beds but one so hard no way could sleep on it. We cycled and were shattered. Charged us $25 dollars for the room which seemed a lot but our first in Nicaragua so were unsure. I wouldn't say they were friendly or helpful and the woman was clearly telling the man he was asking too much. Felt safe. But they had the tv on most of the night so hard to sleep. Bit of a, disappointing start to Nicaragua
Report Check-InIt’s budget hotel. Got room at far end which had better ac, bathroom door is a curtain. It’s a small town. Wifi doesn’t reach last room. Secure parking, cloths line to hang clothes. He wanted $25 for a 2 bed unit. We came in late and got it for $20. IOverlander originally showed on other side of the street. Hope I corrected the location. Cold 1 lite water for $1us, 2 regular bottles of cola is $1. He also has packaged pasteries you’d find in a convieance store. Great place once your clear customs or just need to sleep. Super nice owner
Report Check-Invery bad hotel !!!! 25 dollars t
Hôtel on town, perfect after crossing the border with Honduras
We paid 20 dollars for a room with 2 beds, A/C and shower
Hard to find but clean and friendly. speaks English. i paid 20$ for a room with AC. Had a double and a single bed. restaurant over the road, 100L for a beef asado. Would recommend
Report Check-InGreat place to stay. we crossed from el Salvador in one very long day and completed Nicaragua customs just as the sun was setting. 5 mins down the road we found hostel Santa cruz. it is not the hotel looking thing on the corner but just across from it (the red gate across from busy grill). we paid 35usd for 4 people (2kids 2 adults) in one a.c. room. owner was super friendly and accommodating. highly recommended.
Report Check-InStayed inside the gated parkinglot with our small van and paid 400 Cordobas without electricity. We could use the toilet/shower from one of the rooms. Good Wifi and nice welcoming people in the whole town. You get good food in the evening at the other side of the street (tacos, etc for 10 Cor each). Only 6 km before/after the boarder to Honduras.
Report Check-InAmazing owners and night watchman! Feels very safe. We rolled away from the Honduras crossing after dark and were so relieved to arrive, and receive such a warm welcome! They are very much pet friendly, and have nice, clean, basic rooms. We opted for A/C, and paid 750C for 2 people and 2 dogs.
Report Check-Ingood place for one night stay. Clean room. I paid 350C for one person.
Report Check-InVery basic but safe spot to stop when coming from or going to Honduras.. wifi is ok and has a simple food shop in front with great bbqed chicken:)
