Beautiful Adobe building. Has an excellent museum. Restrooms and drinking water, sales (t-shirts, books, staff medallians, patches, etc). Entrance to dunes is further up the road and it will blow your mind.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Very pretty park. Spent a couple hours exploring around. $25 for vehicle, or $15 per person of biking or walking in!
It has a picnic areas, a few hiking trails, a small boardwalk. You can drive through. Pretty pic opps, sledding (you can bring your own, we used kayaks which wasn’t very fast). Uploading a pic of the map of the park.
Big rig friendly, be aware the sand gets blown onto the hardpacked sand road.
Report Check-InIf you want to go backcountry camping, call ahead!!! They have to close overnight camping sometimes for missile testing. They have a schedule on their website, but it is ABSOLUTELY NOT RELIABLE. It changes all the time and they don't update it.

Report Check-InJust incredible! Watch the free 27 Min film in the infocenter (located before the pay station) before you head in the park - it is very interesting and well made. We had a heavy sandstorm and where not allowed to leave the car - but still very impressive.
Report Check-InSoft squishy sand, expansive dunes, guided sunset hikes, sand sledding, dog friendly on leash. Windy.
Report Check-InVery nice white sand dunes in the NM. Entrance fee is 5$/person but nobody was there to take the money so we got in for free (around 9.45 am).
Report Check-Inwatching the sunset from the dunes was magical! head out to the loop and pick a dune, you won't regret it!
