Description

Incredible mirador of the expansive Glaciar Exploradores. It's the first valley glacier we've seen heading south and one of the few spot you can see this type of glacier without paying a load of money. We've seen glaciers in Alaska and New Zealand and were very impressed with this. Well worth the drive off the highway.

Latest Check-Ins

Nice viewpoint. 20 min walk through the forest. Two other trails included in ticket. 7000pp. Nice place.
Road was fine.

Report Check-In

We went here as the free CONAF trail was closed due to strikes and a ranger stopped us as we were walking toward that entrance. The views are pretty. Took us about 1.5 hours for the two glacier miradores. 5000 pp. The road here from Pto Rio Tranquilo was in bad shape and took us 2.5 hours (we are slow in our truck camper). Looks like you can camp in their lot but we did not.

Report Check-In

they have a new viewpoint a bit north of the marked spot here. Its higher and farther (one way: 1km) than the old one and you can really see how far the glacier has melted the last 200 years. Sadly incredible. Price is still 5000 per person

Report Check-In

The walk in the rain forest is nice, 500m up (20-30min) and you are at the mirador. The glacier is a bit far away now... If you already saw some glaciers, you won't be impressed by this spot which is a bit expensive (5000 pp) for this short hike and view point. But the staff is nice and the trail well maintained.

Report Check-In

if you like hiking and don't wanna pay the 5000 peso, go to the lago Leones one valley further south. A 4-5 hour hike to the lago with a amazing view on a glacier. much nicer then from this mirador. other glacier though

Report Check-In

Still 5000P pp entry fee, there are two hikes (one mainly to see the forest, the other that goes on top of the moray with distant view of the exploradores glacier. We think the pretty view doesn’t justify the price though 🤷‍♂️

Report Check-In

We pay 5000 pp.
For us it didn't worth it. Of course it is beautiful and we have a view of the glacier(from far), mountains and bayo lake but still you pay that ... that's nature gosh. And there is absolutely nothing to maintain. The path is 500mts.
We also think that in the south there is better glacier but that's only our opinion.
What should really worth it is do to the one day walk on the glacier. We did the one on Perrito Moreno and met guy who did this one and it look way way better and cheaper.

Report Check-In

We weren't charged on a Wednesday in mid October. The ticket office was locked. Lucky us! The mirador is pretty cool even if the glacier is far away. Like others have said, the drive here is pretty cool and you see other glaciers on the way. We thought it was a nice way to spend the day, but it wasn't mind blowing or anything. So if you have the time and money, check it out, by if you're short on either of those then don't feel bad about skipping it.

This is the departure of a 6 hours trail to the glacier. You will walk on the glacier and need crampons, and obviously a guide is mandatory.
No way to pass the entrance if you have no guide, even if you don't intend to do the whole trek

Report Check-In

Impossible to go on CONAF mirador without a tour operator, we were bloc.
We went to the official mirador, 4000p/p.
The glacier is far but worth it! We heard ice blocs!!!!! ⛄️⛄️

Report Check-In

We were not anymore allowed to do the free Conaf trail (only with guide) so we went here. They have a not advertised student discount when you ask friendly --> 2000 pp

Report Check-In

Not anymore possible to do the free trail to the lookout. Guardaparque stopped us and said only with guide. You have to go to the paid mirador 400 meters after this spot.

Report Check-In

For elderly people the commercial option might prevail. We first did de free option. Is difficult to find and Climb and gives a smaller view. The other option is only 2000 pp for elderly and gives far out better view on the glaciar. Still a good climb to get there.

Report Check-In

The free CONAF mirador trail starts directly after the bridge behind the big 200m sign of the paied trail.

Report Check-In

Here you find the National Park office and a little trail through beautiful forest to a Mirador, although the glaciar is quite far away from there still. Free. If you want to go any closer or walk on the glaciar you need to get a guided tour, unfortunately. No other normal hiking options up here according to the CONAF guy.

Report Check-In

4000pp - it's a private trail / mirador... But instead go to the Conaf buildings 200m before the carpark and walk to their mirador for free (also a 10min walk and the view is the same). We fell into the trap of paying - again. Glacier is nice but you are very far away... In our opinion it's not worth the money, especially as you can see glaciers the entire way up the valley...
