Little dirt road off Highway 89 leading to this beautiful little campspot in Tahoe National Forest.
There are two National Forest campgrounds within a couple of miles, both were closed for the season. This might also be a free alternative in summer.

Great spot! A little rough getting up the road but the GPS directions took us right to the site. Very clean. A little noise from the road, but not bad.
Report Check-InThis entire area is USDA area. Lower Truckee and upper truckee campgrounds and cottonwood and cold creek. Camping is $20 for areas with restrooms and running water with space for rv or tents. First come first serve and reservation sites are available. organized federal land management areas of undeveloped campsite are throughout the area and camping is free. Cell signal is 4G LTE in sierraville 14mi north. Go to smithneck farms cafe on highway 89. Great coffee and breakfast. Don’t move furniture or charge your devices…. The owner hates that.
Report Check-Innice little camp spot, not sure if there are more sites up the road as both times we camped here we were able to take it! the road up is pretty rough and rocky, but we managed just fine in our 2WD Van.
