Nice flat open space with enough shade to reduce effectiveness of solar panels! Some slight road noise from the paved highway but this is a serene and peaceful spot. We stayed five nights.
The entrance road is single track sand easily negotiated by our heavy low slung Promaster van. There are holes but difficult spots have bypasses.
Verizon wireless is strong enough for internet use ( with a booster in the van). There is an old fire ring but fires are prohibited in 2022. Dispersed camping is not allowed in the national forest during general gun season. In 2022 that runs November thru February. Check exact dates on the National Forest website.
We checked entry requirements for day use at nearby Alexander springs and a pass good for the calendar year is the only way in. $70 ( plus tax) per person!
Road has a few sand pockets but 2 wheel drive can reach it. The main road isn’t far and a good citizen can help if necessary. No trash and minimal insects.
Report Check-InNice little spot in the woods, we ended up going a little farther down where we could pull farther off the road. There was a prescribed burn here recently so not so much firewood anymore.
Only thing is a truck drove by twice around 9pm and the second time shined a flashlight on the van. Not sure why, but it did freak us out a bit.
Other than that a quiet night
Report Check-InNice little spot to boondock. No amenities but bathrooms, water and showers at Alexander Springs.
