Chile
This campsite offers three private sites, which are all accessible by car, as well as one community area with a bathroom and huts with benches and tables. Campers had to stay on the parkings. The campsite is for free. You have tot register at the Park Pumalin entrance Amarillo.
Get to the gate and register before 17:30 (summer)
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
All of the campgrounds are closed for the season because of rain. Also, only vans and smaller can use the road during the day to walk the trails because of a small bridge. A gorgeous park but certainly difficult to enjoy.
Report Check-InWith Bici, it was no problem to bypass the chains after 17:30. did not register (saw no ranger), no one complained. VERY nice campground. Happily paid 6000p in the morning.
Report Check-InNice camp. Clean showers (cold) and toilets, water taps (we drank the water), lots of space for tents. Cars have to stay at the parking. If you have 4x4 you can drive further up to the next camp. Officialy 6000ppn, but we were on a hike so didn’t meet ranger that collects money in late morning.
Report Check-InNice well-maintained camp site with cold showers and clean toilets. Free!!!! This doesn't happen a lot in Chile so enjoy the North Face guy's legacy!
Report Check-Innice campsite. as said before: you need to register in ranger station before 5:30pm, then gate is closed. today it was free, they said they start charging next week.
Report Check-InAs the Ventisquero campsite was closed, we went here. We stayed two days for free. Really nice, though the car/motorhome areas are ‘just’ parking sites. Women’s shower was not working correctly but men’s was. We didn’t have to pay.
Report Check-InThis is a gem! Maybe for many people, a hidden one.
Little huts offer good options, so you can cook, eat an set your tent (if you'd rather sleep under a shelter) Maintance and shape of this Doug Tumpkings donation deserves not only 2 thumbs up! Walks are amazing, bathroom were clean, and better than lots of private places or even hostels.
In this season, get to the gate before 17h25, we wher able to register (camping site has some weeks where it is free) and a super friendly ranger let us in, even if it was 8 min passed the closing hour. Give a highlight to your trip, visit and enjoy this amazing place!
Idyllic campsite (Ventisquero closed and loop road to it closed)! Very peaceful. Well kept expanses of grass bordered by lush forest - heaps of bird call and chirruping in night! 3 shelters, we headed to topmost one where there is a distant peak view. Some basic maintenance could be done in otherwise good toilet block, ie fix door latches, clear the plug holes and have showers flowing properly (although so cold you wouldn't spend long under them!). Also rubbish piled up, they would be better off not having bins. Appears to be free, just sign in at gate off Carretera.
Report Check-InChecked in at the ranger station and was told it's free camping until January. Motorhomes must park off the grass. Road and facilities (toilet, water, cold shower) in great condition.
Report Check-InArrived at entrance to road after 8pm and road was closed so could not camp. Get there before 8pm if you want a chance!
Report Check-InWith a van you can only access the parking lots but they are right on the field so that is quite okay.
There were some tiuque birds around and really quiet at night. We did not see any rangers.
great Park and Campsite. the Lady at the Gate Said WE need to pay 12.000 Pesos for 2 Persons and 1 campervan and a Ranger will collect the Money. but Nobody came in two days. even when WE left WE could Not pay at the Gate. strange. anyway: cold but very accurate and Clean shower, good walks, quite Nature Camping.
Report Check-Instayed there 2 nights. bathrooms and cold showers. if you leave early to hike, you do not pay 😅. easy road to this campsite and beautiful place. the one After is for 4w4 and we would have never done it with our kombi! but the hike is lovely
Report Check-Inreally nice site.
Beautifully maintained with lovely lawns
Campers have to stay on the road/hardstanding
Toilets look like they were all freshly decorated and were immaculately clean. They really were a cut above any other toilets on any other campsite we’ve seen. However, please note, there is no hot water available, and the cold water redefines just how cold water can be :-)
Amazingly, all this was free, however, you do have to check-in at the Rangers station at the entrance to the park.
Whilst here it’s worth reading up on the amazing conservation work done by Doug Tompkins of North Face fame. to be honest, it’s down to him that you can camp here for free.
It’s worth looking out at night to see the stars, when we were there, they were absolutely amazing
Report Check-InSpoke to a ranger who said the camping for here and ventisquero isn’t open until December. They are also clearing the trails now so only the Darwin trail was open as of this date. Not sure when the other trails will be open though!
Report Check-InNIce place. Very well maintained and in the middle of the National Park. Only cold water-
Report Check-InAs in last year’s pre-season, this seems to be the only national park camp ground that is not chained off. Nice and peaceful, toilets open and running water.
Report Check-InWe can not enter, at the entrance informed us that Motor Homes can not reach this camping, only cars or on walking, it was raining a lot, we did not stay.
Report Check-InSpent the night there because the road to ventisquero is closed. All as described.
We didn't pay, in fact we saw nobody.
From here, the hike to the glaciar is 13km one way.
Good campsite, very clean, very quiet, toilets and cold shower. The road was in maintenance, we were not supposed to drive up here but the ranger at the reception made an exception.
Report Check-Inprecioso el parque, muy bien mantenido. duchas de agua helada (cold shower only). El treking de 10 km no es fácil, requiere unas 4 horas de ida, aunque el camino es plano en su mayoría.
Report Check-InThe campsite is open and for free. campers on one of the 3 parkings. 2 shelters. lots of grass doe tents. wc and colt showers. You have tot register at the entrance Amarillo of Park Pumalin.
Report Check-InAlthough other campgrounds in the park are closed, this one seems to be informally open. Several other groups camping, and folks from days before report it has been ok to camp there. Bathrooms open and water is on. No fees being collected. It is also serving at the current trailhead to the Ventisquero Trail.
Report Check-InHuge space in the middle of the park. Very clean. Might be windy. Showers are really cold
Report Check-InCampsite is open. Paid 6.000 per person. The officer came at around 9.30am to collect.
Report Check-InIt’s still free! With our rooftop tent we had to stay in the parking but nice and quiet.
Report Check-Init was temporary free because the rangers didn't had the boletta (recipe).
shower was really cold.
stayed here two nights and had the place to ourselves. nice campsites, bathrooms were a bit buggy but they didn't bite so not bad. no charge at this time.
Report Check-InThe road that led to the campsites was closed (chain with a lock). We stayed at the junction just 500 meters before the camping (where the roadclosure was) where there is place for a couple of big rigs.
Report Check-InWe wanted to camp on the Ventisquero Campground but without 4x4 we had no chance to get there so we decided to stay here. Nice and private sites. Clean baños with cold showers. Everything for free!:-)
Report Check-InNice campground in quiet part of Pumalin NP. Showers are cold but free this time of the year. There is a nice short trail (4km) going around the valley.
Report Check-InThis campsite offers three private sites, which are all accessible by car, as well as one community area with a bathroom and huts with benches and tables. A ranger usually collects the campsite fee in the morning during the high season, from about the middle of December to the end of February.
Report Check-InGreat place to camp in the rain! It was free when I was here (mid December) and the ranger let me and other cyclists put up our tents under the shelters, to stay dry. In high season this might not be possible (because it is supposed to be a shared space). Had a great night in a beautiful and tranquil space with flowering trees ad hummingbirds. Thank you again, Pumalin!
Report Check-InNice camp in pumalin park. As described. Okt, preseason. Free and we were alone.
Report Check-InBeautiful campsite with several big shelters. There was no water in the bathrooms but there's a creek running with fresh water. Free.
Report Check-InVery beautiful camping with lots of grassy areas, but not so many modules, so could get packed in summer. We were by ourselves beginning of november. Clean toilets, cold shower! We did the hike to the ventisquero from here because the road was closed to Camping Ventisuqero. Totally worth it!
Report Check-InBeautiful campsite in the lovely Pumelin Park. The weather was fantastic when we were there so the views were great ( although not from the campsite). No one collected any fee from us and there was no where to pay.
Report Check-InThere is one parking space here that is perfect for truck campers, but it was taken while we were here so we popped up in one of the general parking areas. Huge grassy area, but you are not allowed to drive on it. As with other camp sites in Pumelin, this one is very nicely done but more for tent campers. Rigs not much privacy or view. Free when we were here. Very cold shower.
Report Check-InWonderful quiet place to feel well in naturesmall house with seating, toilets and cold water showersCIP 5000./Night
From the park entrance about 8 km, it has several campsites in this sector, but rather for tent
