Something not right?

Description

Bird sanctuary with info and walks with large gravelled parking area 100m off the highway where overnighting in the parking area is permitted. Toilets available and garbage bins.

Just as you drive out the entrance there was a running water pipe just next to a large tree. Water quality unknown and may not be running in summer.

Still a good-to-go dry camping over night stop, even in winter. This is a parking lot for a short nature trail head so it is easy to miss. There is a sign posted for it, but only visible to south bounders on 285. You're looking for a sudden grove of large cottonwood trees in the midst of a flat agricultural area. You might also spot the pit bathroom building from the road. This spot is on the east side of 285. The trail is a relaxing stroll, great for kids to unwind. Be on your best behavior: This parking lot is also a favorite place for the county sheriffs and the state Police to take a break and catch-up on their paperwork, day and night. Thank you Colorado Parks & Recreation for allowing this as an overnighter.

Great spot for a night! It is right by the highway, so there is road noise but it didn’t disturb my sleep at all. Make sure to walk the trail! It’s beautiful and lots of birds

Solid spot. My dog enjoyed the short walking path. I’m usually sensitive to road noise but didn’t have any issues sleeping here for some reason. A few vehicles stopped by to use restrooms or hike.

Like they said, REALLY sweet spot, especially the birds, omg!

Just one little piece of advice: stick to the salt. If you try to make your way (a.k.a. accidentally bushwhack) all the way around the lakes you will end up soaked, scratched, and muddy and returning by highway. Don’t ask me how I know.

absolutely love this spot for an overnight. great walks, birds, bathroom, trash.

Nice quiet pull off. Road is pretty well traveled during the day but at night it is super quiet. Lots of bugs. Nice walk back to the ponds.

Great spot for overnight. Sign does say camping for self contained vehicles with a toilet. Tmobile signal, but a little intermittent.

Great spot! Short trail to a pond for bird viewing, pit toilets, and great Verizon cell service. Heard tons of various loud bird calls last night- not complaining!

Right on highway but beautiful Mountain View and walk through the bird Sanctuary. Road is quiet at night. Bathroom is closed.

Overnight in parking lot still permitted for "self contained units" August 2019. Area clean & attractive. A couple of "doughnuts" spun in the gravel lot so might have a spirited bypasser some nights.

Rolled in in the dark. Looks nice.

Bird sanctuary with info and walks with large gravelled parking area 100m off the highway where overnighting in the parking area is permitted. Toilets available and garbage bins. There was a free running water pipe at the entrance behind the trees on the left, but that may have been for winter freeze protection
