Description

thermal-bath with volcanic water and minerals. lots of different treatments possible. needs time but very interesting and very helpful people.

we stayed here overnight with our small campervan on the big parking-lot because the camping el viento blanco was us to expensive (630 pesos).

we spend this money in one if the best parilla in whole argentina, NITO Parilla, on the opposite of the street, you have to be there at 8.30pm, when they open the doors at night, otherwise you don't get a table (they serve also at lunchtime).

Don't be fooled by their pretty brochure, this is not a luxury spa experience - think more along the lines of a Soviet era sanitarium. There are a lot of people all around the facility who just appear to be waiting. When we visited there were only 2 pools operating, one is the wrong side of lukewarm, with mud and the other is not quite cold. We decided to go for a walk instead. On a brighter note, it is worth the drive here to see the thermal landscape and also the spectacular waterfall Salto del Agrio on the RP27 (turn right out Caviahue).

Really worth it. Good ripio. The thermes are really nice, Laguna verde is still free, and you can add for one day 2 prestations, we choose Laguna chacon and hydromassage. For 2, it was 4000 pesos (WU = 379), so really worth it. People really nice but don't be afraid to ask questions.
Hotel aguas Verdes, there is wifi and good lunch menu.

Nice sulfur bath!
We arrived at 9 am and they did a quick medical check (only blood pressure and questions). Then we were able to book treatments for the day.
Sulfur laguna: shower first, cover yourself in mud, then hop in the warm 38 degree water for 20 minutes. RECOMMEND
Hidropulse massage: bath tub, woman sprays you with water hose. Experience was medium.

Best to go with an Open Mind. !!Take off your jewelry or it will oxidize and turn black!!

These are not hot springs where there is a hot pool and you just go in. First you need to register and fill out a form, then get a medical evaluation and pay for treatments. Then you need to line up for treatments. Every step you need to wait for 1-3 hours. Unless the current shift says they are full and then you can hope to get a spot from the next shift. Totally disorganized. You cannot get a reservation until the shift arrives (8am and 2 pm I believe). Then it's up to the employees if and who they feel like admitting. So some people wait only 2 hours, others all day and are sent back. Each treatment is 15-20 min. There are some pools outside but they are sometimes closed and sometimes cold (had 21C / 70F when I was there). You still have to go through the process to be allowed in, then only 20 min in the pool (even if it's cold) and no swimming.
The treatments are interesting, but as others said bring a lot of patience and a good book (no wifi and no cell service in town).

Very interesting. Process is a bit confusing, but they have both doctor prescribed and nonprescribed “procedures.” Facial you need to sign up at either 8am for am appointments and 2pm for afternoon. The mascara facial uses algae that has a significant smell. The pools outside are not hot per se. The laguna del Chauco (sulfur and mud) has warm mud at the bottom with vapor bubbles, they can be very scalding but the warm mud feels good. Check it out before you sign up. The hidropulsor is a bathtub and then an attendant sprays you under the water with a hose as a massage. For massages in general, you need an appointment days out. We were here in a Sunday and the next appointment was Thursday. Maybe you can call ahead. You need to first go to the enfermería to get checked out by the nurse, then go pay at factorization and the caja. Very helpful people but interesting place.
