Description

Here you have to pay for the entrance to the national park which is 100Bol per person if foreign.

Beautiful national park with very few tourists. I recommend driving around vulcano Sajama and exiting through the second entrance gate. It's a gravel road but can easily be done with any vehicle.

We arrived at night and no one was there, the Gate was open and we entered. We juste spend the night there and exited the following morning. unfortunately the guard was there and asked us to pay 100B pp. You can only pays with cash, which we didn't have. I recommend this Park but stay a few days to make the Price worth it, and make sure to have enough cash, because even in the village everything has to be paid with cash.

We passed by and there was no one in the guardhouse. After a few days in the city, a ranger came to us and requested the payment of 100 Bolivians per person (for foreigners - the value for national residents is 30bs).

Passamos por aqui e não havia ninguém na guarita. Após alguns dias na cidade, um guarda parque nos procurou e solicitou o pagamento de 100 Bolivianos por pessoa (para estrangeiros - o valor para residentes nacionais é de 30bs).

Just for your information: the parque Sajama is beautiful but the way in and through is very bad.

We went there and after 100m met 2 guards in a small house in the road. we didn't have bolivianos (100/person) so the guy was ok to take our Chilean pesos. We had a look on internet to know the exchange rate. Firstly he asked for 14000 Chilean pesos per person, which is huge! So we came back in our car to leave when he told us we will find a solution as we only wanted to go to the hot spring and see the village. At more than 4000m I was not feeling well enough to hike. He then offered us to pay only 10000 chilean pesos for 2, which was quite honest. In the park there is several hot springs, some are free, other are 30 bolivianos per person. So if you don't have bolivianos and want to go to the park, you now know that it's possible, you can even negociate the price if you don't stay so long in the park.

Again, no-one manning any stations from the border so at this stage we haven't paid. A truck of military personnel did stop us to check my papers but there was no drama. "On your way son. Have a nice day"

Nobody at both entrances so didn’t have to pay 100bol pp :)

Visited in December. Nobody to charge entrance fee at any of the gates. Weather is not that stable (sonetimes snowing in the afternoon), but almost nobody here. Definitely worth a visit!

We drove the sandy road with our VW T3 whitout 4x4. We could made it but we had to drive faster than usual.

Beautiful park well worth the visit, one of our favorites. The volcanos are majestic and the vicunas & llamas are running wild everywhere here. Very few tourists here because it's waay off the backpacker circuit but do your self a favour and make the small effort to visit. You only need 1-2 nights here it's not a massive park. 100bol per person but it's worth it.

100 bol/person. Beautiful park. Great sunrises/sunsets and quiet nights. Did a loop from this entrance and out the north entrance. Road is a mix of soft gravel, washboard and small rocky sections.

If travelling via bicycle the Sajama loop will be difficult. We met a couple on bikes that had to push them for most of the way due to the soft gravel. Southern section from this entrance is the softest part of the road.

Indeed still 100 BOB/p but absolutely worth it. Ranger provides a detailed map and answers all your questions. There are a lot of easy mirrador walks, don't miss the geyser field and thermal pools.
