Many free spots on this dirt road. Nice and very quiet. Fire pits. Close to Tonto National Monument. Great Verizon reception. Poor T-mobile.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Great spot for wide open 360° views of beautiful mountains, however, if you like having a Verizon signal, the most I got is 1-2 bars tops SOS, 2G, 3G or LTE, not enough to be functional on my iPhone 12 mini). The good news is, otherwise, as previously reported, nice sites, very quiet and dark. In fact, I could see absolutely no lights from up here except the occasional car down below so this is an amazing dark sky opportunity!
Report Check-InStayed two nights on the side FS Rd #2089???
Got really stuck in mud just past the little wash, barely 50 yards off of FSRd 449. Got out eventually and parked for two nights at a nice spot. Nice sun dried it up a bit, so I left as more rain is possible. Only 1 bar Verizon, some times.
Long easy road to drive. There is a bit of washboarding but that’s the only issue with the drive. We drove quite a ways back up in here and there are dozens of places fit for any rig on both sides of the road. Nice and quiet. We’ve seen fox and coyotes running nearby.
The main road is decently busy. It seems like there is a ranch or farm at the end that requires consistent traffic so I’d recommend getting off the road a bit. Also the left side of the road, because it backs up to a major valley was a lot windier than the right side.
T-Mobile service had full bars but struggled to get a webpage to load. We could not see the lake from here unless we sat on top of our rig.
Sunsets are beautiful.
Be aware the road through Tortilla Flat to get here is closed. We had to go through Globe.
Report Check-InExcellent gravel road, quiet spots, and awesome views if you drive in about 2 miles closer to the Tule Trailhead over one steep incline and two cattle guards. We’re in 21 ft Winnebago 2x van. Well worth it if you’re self-contained.
Report Check-InStayed two nights here and loved it! Very quite once you go further in, there was a bit of "traffic" from others camping and heading off to the lake. Lots of pull offs with fire rings, please sure to use already existing ones.
1-2 Verizon bars.
Road in was washboard, but was just doable in a 170 RWD Sprinter.
Thanks for the park. 🙏🏻✌🏼
Report Check-InBeautiful spot and not too far to drive on the dirt road! Barely any Verizon reception. The views are incredible! We stayed one night with no issues.
Report Check-Ingreat view from the cliff... but terrible Verizon reception for me unlike the last poster...possibly just too many users at the time
Report Check-InEnter trail away, over cattle grate. We found a well graded dirt road, wide enough for two large vehicles to travel. We passed a staging area on left, beginning of road. Several small pull outs on the next right...but larger area (turn at trail marker on the left side of road)...room for several large rigs, vans or campers & several fire rings.
Report Check-InLarge, level area with pull through ability. Stayed two nights. It rained hard both nights and had a wind advisory the second night, however, it didn’t flood. Really quiet and peaceful. Great Verizon reception. Showered at Wind Hill Campground
Report Check-InGreat place. Beautiful views. Big area with rock fire ring. There are more areas to camp in along this road. The road is a bit wash board but accessible for all vehicles. 4x4 not needed. Great spot to watch the full moon rise…Pack it in and pack it out.
Report Check-InFantastically remote and peaceful. Tons of great spots to choose from and the road is great for all vehicles.
