Closest campground to town. About a 5-minute walk to the plaza. 250 pesos per night with running water, sinks, toilets, and hot showers. WiFi access included. 4 rooms for rent. Ignacio (really nice guy) lives on-site with his dogs and keeps the grounds secure night and day. Entrance is on the left of the Six store. Look for “El Padrino” sign and big circular palapa building in the center.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
We spent one night on the camping with our Van. Dry camping is now 250 pesos. The camping host Efrain is very friendly. Wifi is good behind the restaurant. Toilet facility looks a bit run down cistern lid missing, light not working....
Report Check-InDon’t overlook El Padrino! This is a beautiful campground/ RV/ Hotel just two blocks from town. The owner is very friendly and accommodating and just 800 pesos for the motel. I stayed 4 nights and never slept better. Definitely be back!
Report Check-InHighly recommend this camp. Family owned business that really cares about you and the quality of your stay. Ask and Efraín will make it happen. 200p for dry camping (there are several zones for all sizes of rigs.) Good margaritas, fish tacos, and shrimp tacos for dinner made by Efraín and his wife. Bathrooms and showers were clean. Pressure was good, and water was hot each time. Wifi was decent and reaches several camps. It’s a five minute walk to the town square. Again, highly recommend!
Report Check-InThis place has everything you need! Great wifi, great hot showers, and laundry service. Honestly our clothes have never smelt so fresh. We stopped in for a night and ended up staying for four. Such a convenient location to downtown. The owner Efrin is awesome and his two dogs are so sweet. Our pup loved playing with them every day. Highly recommend this spot if you are passing through San Ignacio.
Report Check-InGreat campsite with HOT showers and pressure. $200 pesos a night, owner speaks English, walking distance to town with a small store nearby.
Report Check-InQuiet location. 2 sites only have power, shared extension cord. friendly, close to town, no water , no Sani dump. Nice looking motel.
Report Check-InSpots are nice but amenities are really basic. Not even a sink for your hands, the toilets were not cleaned for the 3 days we were here.
showers warm.
$200 per night without power, $250 with. You get an extra long extension cord to bring the power in. Water at sites. There is a dump station but it is inside the toil so you need a long hose and you will be dumping uphill. Not the best. But nice camp and close to the Centro.
Report Check-InNice campsite to spend a night. Lots of overlanders here. Paid 200MXN for dry site. Showers were hot at night but cold mid-morning (to be expected). Had some good margaritas in the restaurant in the evening (4 + tip for 400MXN). Miriam was super nice and helpful and so was the manager on duty in the evening. Laundry available for about 150 MXN - might take a little while since they hang dry instead of machine dry. Dogs are cute and expert beggars. Left in the AM due to dust from intense winds - would have been fine in a camper but we have a rooftop tent and outdoor living space.
Report Check-InChill place with hot showers, bathroom and wifi from the restaurant. Just a short walk into town, the two cute doggies accompanied us from the campground to the church and kept company while we enjoyed magheritas in town, they Later walked us home, very sweet. 200 pesos per night, very nice owner
Report Check-InNice place to chill for 2 nights. You can walk to town and get small date pie from the corner coffee shop or delicious tres leche cake (or flan) from a shop about 4 doors down from the coffee shop. Buy something, these people have a sweet little town.
At El Padrino, People say showers are hot but one has to wait a little bit after 2 people use showers to have a hot shower. 3 gallon solar water tank. Efron is kind and gracious. Be nice to him. He is trying hard to make a good experience for his guests.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot. Lots of room for big RVs. Burro Princess walked around. Highly recommend for easy access from a stressful day of driving.
Report Check-InStayed here for a week and felt so at home! Efraín and his partner, Chuy are so kind. Efraín makes coffee for guests every morning and we enjoyed hanging out with them and chatting. We had electric and appreciated the warm/hott-ish showers. The hot water runs out when other people use it but it wasn't a big deal for us.
We used the dump at Rice & Beans down the road but preferred to stay here for the hospitality and proximity to town. We also loved that we were able to give Chuy our laundry and she had it ready for us in just a few hours. So convenient. We'll be coming back here for sure!
Report Check-InVery chill place. The two local dogs were nice. Our dogs got along fine. Seems to be solar friendly- so nice a quiet.
Report Check-Inliked it so much here we stayed a second night!
easy 4 minute walk to the town square. 200 pesos to dry camp, 250 if you want to use the extension cord to plug in. I think there's only 1 extension cord so first come first serve on that!
wifi was pretty good (ran a video call for an hour with no issues) and will reach some of the sites. the host Enrin was really lovely, and washed our van for us for a small charge.
Report Check-InGreat campground. 200 pesos/night, 250 with electrical hook up. Hot low pressure shower, free morning coffee, and they washed our Sprinter 4x4 for 150. Only negative is that you can't sit outside during the day because of the annoying tiny flies that insist on landing on your face.
Report Check-InReally like this place. Stayed for two nights (edit: 3 nights) with no urge to leave. Very calm, pleasant, safe, quiet except for the rooster, so don't camp near the chicken coop.
Host makes good (free) coffee for everyone.
Options for sun or for shade. Full bars 4G on my Verizon phone through telcel.
Good spots to put out my starlink.
Friendly camp dogs that will follow you into town, hang out, and then walk with you back to camp. My dog is super friendly and well behaved, and in this spot it felt perfectly fine to just let him wander unattended and do his own thing (at least after he's pooped).
Lots of birds, horses mostly next door, but there was some fresh horse poop near my van this morning, so I guess they come through.
Showers included. Good, but I ran out of hot water pretty fast. Was OK because it was during the heat of the day.
Strongly recommend this spot.
Report Check-InThis place is walking distance for the town square. The person in charge, Efrain, is very friendly. I paid 200 pesos to dry camp.
Google Fi was a solid 50 Mbps down, almost a 1 Mbps up and 260 ms ping. Not good to work, but ok to send messages. Also ok to browse the Internet as needed.
Bathroom is not gender separate. You enter a common room and then use the women's or men's stall, which are side by side. There is a third stall under construction. There are 4 showers (separate building, properly divided) and the water is hot with plenty of pressure.
I did not deploy Starlink but there appears to be a clean unobstructed view of the North, so it should work fine.
There are 2 lovely dogs that like to hang out. My dog isn't very social and she was fine with them. They were desperate for food, so if you travel with a dog consider sharing some of their kibble!
(we try to report on cell service for people trying to work off grid; IG: @pampas.overland)
Report Check-InGreat campsite! Close to town, shady trees, good showers, clean bathrooms for 200 pesos. There are more nice campsites behind the long building on the right. Efrin is a decent guy with good English and is improving the place.
Report Check-InJust wanted to add that the rooms to rent are fantastic. There are 8 rooms and we paid 600 pesos for a large room with hot showers and tv. They look new and have been finished to a high standard. Highly recommended
If you don’t have a camper!
Exactly as previously mentioned. San Ignacio is a beautiful little town, this place is quaint and very convenient for walking into town. The restrooms are a little disconcerting at first as men and women enter into the same room and the stalls are side by side! Loved searching for dates that had dropped from the palms! Efrin gave us coffee in the morning and they had moist and delicious date muffins for sale. The showers are clean.
Report Check-InCute campground for 200 pesos/night. They're clearly making improvements and there is someone onsight all night. Warm-ish showers. Dog friendly. A little noisy with roosters and local dogs, cats and horses. Shady and so close to town that we walked up the road to the mission and town square. Lots of places to eat and a coffee shop.
Report Check-In$200mxn for non-hookup. The showers were really great, the women's toilet had an inch of standing water on the floor the whole time, but was relatively clean. No sinks. There is another, much nicer toilet inside the palapa with a sink, but no soap. The grounds were great, shady trees. The dogs were so cute and chill. Staff welcoming and nice. In hindsight, we wished we had eaten dinner there with the other guests.
Report Check-InCool spot, chill vibes with fellow travelers. Hot showers, working toilets. Quiet and safe. 2 awesome dogs! Friendly owners. 5 mins from town.
Report Check-Ingood stop for a night. nice showers but toilets need some attendance. very friendly guy handling operations, arrived with two cars as first visitors of the day and got the spots for 150 MEX each. same guy offered free coffee and a chat the next morning. two nice dogs wandering the grounds. would definitely recommend as transit stay
Report Check-InVery cool place and friendly host! Hot shower and beautifuo oasis near the place!
Report Check-InThis place is lovely! They have rooms if you want rooms, and a very tranquil campground. They’re working hard to grow grass and were watering the ground most of the time I was here. There’s a little grass but not a lot yet. Lots of trees around the place. The showers are nice and hot, but they need to turn the heat on so be sure to let them know.
The best thing about this place was the hospitality! Effron even washed my super dusty car for me and refused to take any money for it! *teary eyed emoji*
They also made me coffee in the morning!
I was the only guest while I was here but they said it gets super busy during whale season. I’m two weeks too late.
It was very peaceful and I will be back on my way back up!
I recommend!!!
Stayed one night. Super nice host who is the son. We paid 500 for double room which has a double bed and single bed. Also got one more room with double bed for 400. We came on 5 motorcycles. We asked at the big hotel on other side of town, hotel ka Huerta which wanted 1000 for a room
Report Check-InAs described. 4 vans here last night. lots of room + level. The staff turns on the heat for the shower when needed. Quick stroll to the town square + mission was great after a day of driving. kinda nerdy like me but I really liked the cactus garden by church. The cacti where labelled as to type.
Report Check-InGreat location a short walk from town. 200 pesos was a reasonable price for hot shower and toilet. Felt very safe
Report Check-InIt’s an ok place to stay for the night. Nothing thrilling but you will find a working toilet and an actually surprisingly hot shower with strong water pressure. You can fill up your water tank too if you have a filter system on your rig.
Paid 200 pesos.
The greatest benefit is definitely the close proximity to town.
Close to town! Family run and very safe, laid back feel from the whole family. They are extra helpful always. We have been in our big class A and also truck with vintage camper and it’s been great for both. They even let us plug into their house set up for our Class A. Super cute dogs also!
Report Check-Innice, but quit run down place... one of four showers working, but dirty, also toilet, dirty... leftovers from last guest's. do they ever clean? we wouldn't come back again.
Report Check-InAccueil très sympathique, le patron est vraiment gentil.
200$ mex la nuit avec eau , douche , électricité ect ... nuit très calme .
Decent place to stay and close to town. Basic bathrooms and showers. We could camp wherever we wanted.
Report Check-InThis is such a nice place! Well cared for, quiet, very close to town. When we arrived, Juan brought us fresh scallop ceviche and tostada's to eat at the tables under the trees. We could park our trucks wherever we wanted and he even let us give them a wash since there is no water shortage here. Everything else is as already described.
Report Check-InVery nice people taking care of the place. Juan is the name, fresh cofee every day and the dogs are always on alert. 200 pesos for dry camping and 400 for a room.
Wifi, hot shower, clean, very close to the town and a Six store right there.
Family (Erica y Juan) were very friendly. Clean. Showers not so hot but they were able to plug in our trailer. Many friendly perros for our dog to play with. A pack of loose horses strolled through camp in the morning fog. Close walk to tacos. Good enough wifi for our kids to do online school and call my mom on her birthday.
Report Check-InWe arrived at night and ended up staying in the little hotel they have ac, water, shower etc.. Good stay after a long drive
Report Check-InSimple cg close to the zocaló. Most simple restrooms and showers, not clean. No TP. Shower was hot. Wifi so-so. Watch your step, dog poo around. Would not stay again.
Report Check-Invery nice place to stay. clean easy to find. Ignacio the caretaker very kind. flush toilets, hot showers, wifi good. pet friendly. quiet and clean.
Report Check-InQuiet and tranquil setting amongst the palm trees only 10 minutes walk from the the plaza. Very basic dry camping spot. clean bathrooms and warmsshowers
Report Check-InNew owner Ignacio is very friendly and very keen to help out in any way he can. I would describe this RV site as a work in progress. As it is a Dry camping site my only criticism is that it is very dusty....but then again where can you get away from dust in Mexico...right?
Report Check-Ina good sized camp for vans/ Rvs. easy access and right next to a beautiful town. lovely hosts and sweet dogs (rescued by the hosts) to greet you. Facilities are good (hot water, showers, flushing toilet, good Wi-Fi, covered pavlion)and adequately clean. Worth $10 US for a night.
Report Check-InGood secure campground at the entrance of town center, about a 5-minute walk from plaza. Surrounded by date palms, birds, and the occasional horse. It doesn’t have water front access, but it’s the closest to town and that made walking back and forth at night quick and easy. There’s also a Six (similar to 7-eleven) right in front where you can refill on ice, snacks, drinks, and beer.
Ignacio (owner’s brother) lives onsite and keeps the place secure 24/7. The family that owns this campground is incredibly nice and helpful. We spent an afternoon chatting with Rosita and Ignacio about everything there is to do around here and how much they love San Ignacio. Just ask Ignacio (he speaks a tiny bit of English, so use Google Translate if you need it) for anything you may need or info on the town. FYI he’s also a mechanic!
200 pesos per night per camp with running water and WiFi. Multiple hot water showers and flushing toilets. Also 2 bathrooms with sinks inside the central palapa (these are the best ones). There are extension cords for RV electric hookups and will let you charge electronics in the palapa. No potable water but we filled up a jug for our shower. They have 4 small rooms for rent - two with a double and two with two doubles both with tv and AC (took some photos of one when they were cleaning it).
Highly recommended if you want a secure spot, close to town, and away from the highway noise. We stayed 2 nights and might return on our trip back north.
Report Check-InAs described by Uphill below. Good spot to camp near town if you don't have a self-contained unit to sleep in the town plaza (or want access to flush toilets and showers). Ignacio is very friendly and can help you with anything you need.
Report Check-InThis place is definitely open. The name is El Padrino, and the entrance is right next to the small Six store as you're driving into town. Unlike Don Chon or Petates, this one is not right by the water, but it has other advantages - real flush toilets, real hot showers, and real working wifi. Guy running it (also named Ignacio) is very friendly, lives on site with his family, so it's very secure. 5-minute walk to the cathedral and town square. 200 pesos.
Report Check-InCould not find it. Asked a passing man who said it's not there anymore at all.
