Description

A very remote, rustic and beautiful place surrounded by the unique araucaria (monkey puzzle) trees. Here, just 3 km from the border are 2 very rustic mountain cabins and 2 Shepherd's Hut.

The smaller cabin sleeps 4 and the larger one sleeps 7. The Shepherd's Huts sleep 4 and 2. All have hot water, firewood stoves for heating, and solar panels which run the LED lights. THERE IS NO MAIN ELECTRICITY, THE PLACE IS OFF GRID. Camping is not possible. If possible, ring ahead or send a message: +5492942596827

During the summer you can hike the mountains and ride horses. Horse rides are from 3 hours up to several days Andean crossing tours. For the winter, there are more than 35 huskies for sled dog tours, rackets for snow walking.
This is very remote - 50km from the nearest town in Argentina Las Lajas, there are no neighbours, it's wonderfully quiet and beautiful. Best to come with an open mind. Hernan Cipriani is the owner and always there are volunteers from all over the world helping to run the place. There are lots of animals, too.
Spanish and English are spoken here.
During summer season when the border crossing is very busy, it is an ideal place to stay to beat the queues in the morning.

Absolutely stunning location very close to the Arg-Chile border amidst the wilderness, mountains and auracania trees. We did a 2 day husky sled tour with charming owner Hernan and his English assistent Tilly and it was one of the most fun things we did in 2 years on the Panamericana. Their care and dedication for the animals, the food and scenery are amazing and the sensation of driving your own sled of dogs through absolute snowy winter wonderland is something everyone should try at least once in their lives. As posted here, there is the main house were food is served and the team lives and there are two beautifully rustic cabañas for rent. We slept in our van the night after coming back from the sled tour, and in a self built dome tent out in the mountains on the trip. It seems they have had one or two overlanders before and are possibly open to receiving more in the future, but it is not just a campsite to show up before crossing borders. For sure if you want to ride horses in summer or ride a sled in winter they will receive you with open arms. In emergency you can maybe ask to park inside or outside the gate, there is plentey of space and your out of sight of the road. Stunning views of very high cliffs where condors live are included and free of charge. Highly highly recommended!
