Something not right?

Description

Relax at Elephant Butte Lake State Park a little away from the crowds? Paseo del Rio Campground is at the southernmost part of the lake at the base of Elephant Butte Dam. Camp spot is right on the banks of the Rio Grande. Each campsite has an adobe shelter but otherwise very basic with bathroom facility. Can be a little noisy in the early evening & early morning due to this being a base for NM Game & Fish wardens certain times of the year.

Latest Check-Ins

Really excellent little campsites with a shelter and fire pit, There are new pit toilets, but there is no shower room. Apparently there are showers in the front building, but they are often locked. Honor system envelopes, which you can mail. Really wonderful river walk along the Rio Grande. We just took off into town in the morning, got some breakfast and took a soak and shower in one of the local Hot Springs. Will definitely stay again.

Tent Camping. Concrete Shelters at each spot. So if it is windy or raining, it is a good option. Mostly quiet and very clean. Occasionally, a passing car will wake you as it is near a road. ATT 1 bar, TMoble no service. $10/ site.

Very nice area. As stated, each site has a three-wall adobe shelter with open windows. Most but not all have either an elevated grilling stand or a ground level fire pit. There are dumpsters and pit toilets. I did not see a shower. The kiosk is at the entrance where you insert your $10/night in the slot. These sites are along the Rio Grande. There is also a really cool jail building that is still remaining from when workers were building the dam. I only had either no bars or one bar of AT&T cell signal.
