Lots of different places to stop and park overnight. If you have a high clearance 4WD you can venture onto the sand past Punta Conejo - follow the surfers to a beautiful spot or just pick a place that suits. Only one abarrotte down this road so bring water and other supplies. Quiet, friendly locals and Pacific Ocean waves. The surf camp near Punta Conejo may let you camp. We didn't ask.

stated here last night. I was alone by myself. checked with couple of locals. All safe. if I had time, I would have stayed couple more days. beautiful views.
Report Check-Intiene un oleaje muy picado así que la hace buena para surf, la diversión local es entrar a la playa con camionetas tipo 4x4, si no tienes de este tipo seguramente quedarás atascado
Report Check-InThe specified location is the access to the area. First we went right at the end of the road to Playa Brazil, but there are a lot of buildings and we encountered some drunk people, so we went to Punta Conejo / Las Palmeras Surf Camp (16.133343, -95.253687) and camped on the sand beyond the hotel. Beautiful, quiet spot, just waves and two cats who wanted to be our friends. Beware of deep sand.
Report Check-InWe pulled up to this beach having heard all kinds of different accounts of what to expect. I was looking to surf and heard that there was local regulation but wanted to go find out for myself. We have a 4x4 Tacoma with all terrain tires and got stuck in the dunes pretty quickly. One of the local surf guides helped us out and informed us that we should not camp there, as it's a known drop off point for the cartels. He proceeded to let us camp on his property and act as my guide. Don't expect to avoid hassling if you want to surf conejo without a guide. And if you're going to try to get over the dunes, watch a couple locals go first. The sand moves every day but they generally have the best route dialed. Even they get stuck sometimes. All that being said, majical place with some of the best waves in the world. You'll do well to check in with locals and respect their system, whether you're surfing or not. It keeps the place low key and beautiful. Enjoy!
