A typical rest area of US, but this particular one has a GREAT view of the mountains! there is a lake where it is also possible to fish and hunt. really nice place to stay. Free.
Be warned that hunters come here and have no consideration for how close they're shooting.

this was a nice place to stay until some d-bag hunter started shooting at waterfowl directly across the lake from my rig at 7:30 in the morning. it's a narrow lake. so unsafe.

Report Check-InFree and near to the road, not too much traffic noise. Some trash left in pit toilet area. Not many people here, lovely trees for shade in places. Big winds blowing through, nice temperatures.
Report Check-InThere were a few cars scattered around the lake and one trailer when we arrived a little after 6:00pm. The lake with snow capped mountains as backdrop was very pretty. The traffic noise was not bad. Quite a few of the picnic tables were not in usable condition. The toilet was piled with garbage and it’s wall was filled with profane writings. The grass area was littered with toilet paper, (animal) wastes and broken glasses. So sad such a pretty place had come to this state.
Report Check-InA fantastic find. Spots are mostly uneven but nothing blocks wouldn’t fix. Pit toilets. Relatively quiet—it’s immediately off the CO-159 which does see some traffic, including the occasional tractor trailer, but very little after dark and even during daylight it’s not heavy. Gorgeous sunsets across the reservoir.

Report Check-InI've stayed here. It was nice. We parked next to the lake. Has a pit toilet bathroom. It's called the Sanchez Stabilization Park. Has some more official-type camp spots near the bathroom with some tables and then there are areas around the lake where you can park overnight. It was quiet when we were there. There was a bit of trash near the bathroom after a big holiday.
