Something not right?

Description

Great on beach camping for RV and tent. Cost is $10.00/night. You will be driving on the beach, so watch tide info and know your sand driving skills. Remember, this is a boondocking area. But there are porta johns, restaurants in the near by towns, rangers patrolling. Also know that this is a OHV area and there are a lot of sand riders on the weekend. Ok surf and good surf fishing.

There are guys driving in truck and selling water - 75c/gal.

Entrance/Fee station is at end of Pier Ave in Oceano.

Good place for 10 dollars. It's difficult to access without 4x4. We have 2x2 and we bogged down. On the morning the ocean come up to the path

Report Check-In

This is an awesome place. Same as described... and you can’t beat the price for California.!

10$/night to sleep right on the beach is a big deal! We stay 3 nights, but it was very crowed, we were on week end. But from October to February you can park after point #6 and its very less crowed. You need a minimum of sand driver skill but we made it we our 2wd short bus with 15psi of air in tires, it easy to get stuck. But know that its an OHV so if you don’t like VTT noise don’t come here.

Was lucky to get a spot through the State Parks online reservation system for two nights — arrived late Friday evening and it was a complete zoo with late-staying day users and late-arriving campers (like myself) jockeying for usable space and contending with a very high 11p tide. Several vehicles stuck at different points, and some freely driving through the sea water (cringe).

Found a decent spot to hunker down in Sweet Bessie for the night. The usual portajohns weren’t there this time, and there were long lines for bathrooms C and D ... but great weather and a good weekend.

sat day was very busy no place to park away from others camping was sold out at 1000 campervans/ rvs , more than 3k ppl on beach, lots of people driving around on atvs and side by sides with music and big flags. was quite the show.

rangers come around at 11.30pm -2am -5.30am and check your pass on ur windsheld , spoke to a guy that tried to sneek his friend in overnight on only a day use pass and was given a 300$ fine with no warning ,

Nice beach. Big. Drive on beach camp anywhere past marker 2. $10 a night. Busy in summer. Lots of atv’s everywhere. It is SVRA after all.

Camping at the beach south of Pismo Beach in Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area. We were lucky just before christmas and in the middle of the week were only 15 Campers in the dunes. So it was very quiet. In the soft sand you will definitely need 4 WD. $ 10.

Report Check-In

As described, driving and camping right on the beach and aling the dunes. We were there on a Sun night with literally hundreds and hundreds of other campers. Camping was actually sold out this night, so come early. Reasonably quiet at night at the very end of the madness 😉, but very interesting!

Report Check-In

Nice and quiet but we were here on a weekday in October. No issues driving on the beach with our Sprinter 4x4. It was pretty windy when we arrived but the wind died and we had a nice evening.

Report Check-In

We wanted to spend a night in this place with our class C 23' motorhome, but a ranger at the entrance didn't allow us to enter saying that we are too big and it's dangerous cause you must go to the sand for camping.

crazy place, super busy on Friday and on a weekend. lots of massive toy hauler and people ride their side by sides, dirt bikes and ATVs like made doing wheelis right in front of little children. Loud fireworks and music at night.
day use area is pretty quite but you can only stay there till 11pm.

cost of entrance is $5 for day use and $10 pr day for overnight. camping spots ( more like entrance quota) gets filled up very quickly. the trick is to by day use pass and find a spot to stay overnight. there is enough room for everyone.

Report Check-In

We drove past the all the camping madness along the water to the very end of the beach where we found a big open area in the dunes (4WD needed). A lot of noise from people driving there OHVs through the sand until around 10pm when things got quiet.

Report Check-In

Nice spot. Loud at some times as described. Got stuck but there are people happy to help all around.

Report Check-In

As already mentioned 4WD recommended but not required if you stay closer to water (check tide table).
Follow the signs and not your GPS. Entrance/Fee stations are at end of Pier Ave and Grand Ave in Grove Beach/Oceano. We used GPS coordinates and our Garmin sent us to a private campground that we should cross to get to the beach but there is no access station.

Report Check-In

As described. If you don't hit the dunes and have a 4x4 you probably get around airing down.

Report Check-In

Great place to drive and camp on the Beach. We arrived on Sunday afternoon and could also watch people pulling their trailers and get stocked, that was fun ;) Although people running their ATV's and motorbikes it was quiet at around 8pm. Take care when walking barefoot in the sand, some people don't care, there is broken glass!

Report Check-In

Nice spot. We went on a Tuesday in September, so it wasn't too crowded, but there were still a fair number of other cars/tents/campers and ATVs. Some camps looked like they had been posted up for a long time. Would recommend.

Report Check-In

We paid but we don't sleep here because we can't drive on the beach. We have a vw bus/camper. Check you can drive in the sand before coming.

Report Check-In

cool place on the beach
make sure to arrive before the high tide so you can make it to the nice areas next to the dunes...
you can get showers in the county park about 5 min from the entrance (1$ for 3 min)
stayed here 2 nights
was quiet till the OHVS started in the morning
10$ per night

Report Check-In

Spent two days there. First was last day of long weekend, so lots of noise, campers and RVs. Next morning was fun to see all those massive rigs leaving, and then it was nice and quiet. There are pit toilets.

Report Check-In

Camped right on the beach $10/nt

Report Check-In

There's only portable potties here. This is the only beach that you can ride your vehicle legally in California. Nice place to get some sand riding experience. $10 to stay or $5 for day use. You are right by the sea, the whole beach is about 2-3 miles. You can have fire, there are small stores around the entrance where you can buy some food and firewood. Really nice sunset.

Report Check-In

You can get your tires inflated near the entrance for $1, if you don't have a compressor in your vehicle.

Report Check-In

Huge beach for camping. You can drive through the dunes and camp wherever you like. 4WD recommended 😉, may be a little bit crowded at the weekends and during holidays. The entrance is in Pismo Beach. $10

Nice place, soft sand on the beach, do not camp too close to the water. If needed, deflate your tires to make it in the sand. I would not go there with a big rig.
