Not the campground but nice!

Got here without reading the posts too carefully and realized this was not the campground, but decided to give it a try as the place is so tranquil. Police came by late at night to tell us the campground was on the north shore and let us stay for the night. Very quiet and lovely view in the morning.

Absolutely gorgeous. Even tho it's January. So very quiet. Clean.

No camping per city ordinance. no wild camping in mcleod. see campgroud across reservoir.

Report Check-In

Beautiful! To be accurate, the post sends you to a parking lot and boat ramp on the South side of the lake. The campground is on the North side, it’s lovely and there was plenty of room on a Thursday. $10 for tent camping in nice back in spots with fire Pirandello picnic tables, some right on the lake. The RV sites were nice, too.

Report Check-In

RV Spots are all full. Tent camping is primitive only. Bathrooms/showers are currently shut down due to sewage issues. Moving on to another place!

Wes Watkins is OPEN! Tent and RV sites. The RV sites($25 per night) have electric and water. One dumping station. Clean restrooms, lots of hiking, beach area at lake and good fishing.

Both sides of reservoir closed as of 04/12/2020.

Report Check-In

As stated, a big parking lot with a boat ramp and a picnic table. Sheriff came by around 6. A few times random cars came into the parking lot after dark, stayed a bit and then drove off. Not sure why. We felt very visible there, but no one bothered us.

Report Check-In

Not many ticks, the wind kept the bugs away. police officer checked in twice at 6 and 9. didnt have a problem with us in hammocks with the jeep pulled off the road into the shade.

Report Check-In

Stopped in and had lunch here. Big empty lot only visitor was Game Warden. Didn’t stay because winds were very strong and we wanted to get a little further down road. Seems fine. Good place for dog, but there are ticks.

Report Check-In

Nice big lot, quiet and not far from I-40. This site is adjacent to several houses that have a clear view of the parking lot - if you stay here know that you are visible. Be respectful and be sure to clean up after yourself... it wouldn't take much to have a "no overnight parking" sign put up or have the front gate closed. I wouldn't recommend setting up a tent here, probably only ok for low key vehicle camping.

Report Check-In

Just a parking lot with a boat ramp on the lake. Quiet except the cicadas in the trees. No one here but me. I wouldn’t camp here but its a great overnight on my way across the country to get to the Trans America Trail.

Report Check-In

Nice spot but fire ants and ticks are around.

Report Check-In

very qualm place. toilets are ok. no crazy neighbor.

Report Check-In

as described. curious neighbor is still around. free when we stayed, no signs indicating any sort of fees. we did not check out the pit toliets, so can't comment.

Report Check-In

great spot! super nice older man came by and said hello in the morning.

Report Check-In

Very good place, lake Beautiful. Maybe the old man widower who leave near the lake would come to speek. He take a book about the travellers who come here.

Report Check-In

Huge, paved parking lot, surrounded by trees, right by the lake side near a small boat ramp. The pit toilets are gross, but we spent a nice, quiet night. A curious neighbor came to say hi and said there's electricity hook up by one of the poles if we need it. Quite a good place to spend a night.
