If the station at the El Mirador car park is unmanned (which will be the case in low season) you can go to information centre and ask for the key to the gate if you travel with someone with limited mobility. That way you can drive the 2.5km up to the lookout. It's worth a visit!

Parking lot at the start of the mirador trail. We were here at the start of the season so it was very quiet. We were the only ones the camp out here. Beautiful surroundings. There is a ranger station here with toilets but the were closed and probably only open in high season. We had a camper so for us no problems with cooking etc.

The entrance was unmanned and the public toilets locked. No one else around. Stayed the night on the parking lot after returning from mirrador walk.
It was windy, so I used the shelter (which had a picknick table) between the entrance and the toilets to cook a light meal.
