Huge parkinglot of the Cerro Chapelco ski resort. In winter (it just opened today 24 June 2017 for the season) and is a cool area to ski or snowboard, aswell as snow shoe hikes and husky mushing rides. We stayed overnight in the parking lot for 3 nights for free after talking to the security guy (24h), super friendly. There are bathrooms, a few bars and restaurants and free wifi which doesn't quite reach the parking lot but still nice to have. All in all a perfect winter camp spot if you like to ski or snowboard with your van as a basecamp!
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
If you want to escape the crowds, you'll find a quiet place to spend the night here in the parking lot of the Chapelco ski center.
Report Check-InA nice ski area to ski and you can stay right at the bottom close to the ski lifts.
There are some restaurants nearby but they all close pretty early.
If you’re skiing you can camp here but we had an impression that if you’re just camping without actually going skiing, they don’t like that.
Not sure what happens in spring/summer but i would imagine they are more flexible since the parking lot wouldn’t be that full.
Great place to ski! We were there a saturday, lot of people but on the slopes it’s fine. Not much queue at the lift.
Paid 50€/pp for 1 day ski lift pass and ski rental.
Stayed 2 nights on the parking. Very quiet at night. No one after 7/8pm.
A lot of space and very calm at night. Bonus: great view on the mountains.
Report Check-Innice attractions a bit expensive, took the cable to the top. good for a day with the kids.
Report Check-InGravel parking with friendly security guys, bathrooms and wifi. More importent is to mention the nice bikepark! Easy acces to all the trails via forestroad. Some friendly dogs around and beautiful sunset! Highly recommended!
Report Check-InWe parked at the other end of the parking lot as this part is only guarded/opened in winter. From here we had a great view on the mountains and Lanin. There is also a sandy path leading to a mirador in approx. 400 meters. Beautiful view of the valley from there.
