Free campground situated directly at the river, just before you cross the bridge, few hundred meters before Mayo. Five sites, at least two of them are pull-through sites, all have fire rings and picnic tables. Big shelter. Pit toilets. We've been here in July and were the only ones. And even our cellphones had reception. There is another free campground right in town (Gordon Park, GPS ca.: 63.59555, -135.90090).
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
As described by other users. The riverside spots are lovely, the other sites don’t have much to recommend other than being free. Thursday night of a long weekend and we are the only ones here. 3 bars of LTE!!!

The McIntyre Park Campground is located on the shore of the Mayo River, north-west of the town site of Mayo. This Campground is operated by the Municipality. Camping is free.
When traveling from Stewart Crossing, this campground can be accessed by turning right from the Silver Trail Highway approx. 100 meters prior to passing over the Mayo River Bridge. The campground has 5 campsites with fire pits and picnic tables. Wood is provided. There is also a gazebo in the centre of the campground. Two outhouses are located near the Gazebo. There is no drinking water at this campground. However, tourists/visitors can fill their 5 gallon water containers or water tanks in their campers at the Village of Mayo Offices during regular working hours (Monday-Friday, 8am-noon and 1-5 pm).
Campers using Mayo River water are advised to boil their water for 5 minutes before use.
This campground is suitable for tenting, as well as small and medium size campers.
Report Check-InEven if there are only a few spots at this campground and that it is free it is not busy at all. If you walk along the river watch for bears. We have seen multiple signs of bears being active around here.
Overall very quiet and totally worth it. Thanks to the city of Mayo for this!
Report Check-InVery nice campsite next to the Mayo River. Few Mosquitoes because we had a gentle breeze. Tried to go for an evening walk but we were surprised by a bear and had to retreat. Still a very nice place where you can sleep to the sound
of the river.
Nous y sommes présentement pour la nuit. 3 places pour VR. On peut faire un feu et table de pique nique sur le site. Direct sur le bord de la rivière.
Report Check-InThe 3 riverside sites in the formal CG were occupied when we arrived so we proceeded another 200 m down the dyke to an informal site on the river. Put us a bit far from the facilities but a great site. Free! Lots of space to park and turn big rigs.
A very loud and long siren at midnight scared us silly as we had no idea what it meant. Turns out it was to wake the volunteer EMS crew for an accident. Had a very disturbed night!
Report Check-InAll the river front sites at the conventional campsite were taken when we arrived so we drove down the dyke to this spot. Great river views but on a man made dike. But a great free site.
Report Check-InBeautiful place, but lots of mosquitos. We were the only ones as well.
Still free!
coming from Stewart Crossing, just before the bridge turn right. very nice calm place with tables, fireplaces, next to the river
