I can see many people were not enthusiastic about this reserve, but I have to say we really enjoyed it (maybe because our expectations were low? Or maybe because there was barely anyone around)
Basically it is a 30ish km circuit, you follow the tracks to various beaches or viewpoints. We didn't see much wildlife but the landscapes were spectacular! We even found a pink lagoon (also on iOverlander). If you are here outside high season I definitely recommend to drive the circuit. If you plan to do the classic boat tour as well, you can get a ticket for both days of NP entrance for 17soles.

No entry with dogs. We were rejected at the entrance. The guard saw our dog and immediately said that it's not allowed. Also big signs saying "prohibido mascotas".
We went to Cañón de los Perdidos instead. Highly recommend that as an alternative if you have a dog.

we left our bicycle luggage at the park entrance office. we saw nothing but cormorant and gulls , sadly it seems rhe wildlife is on the islands on the boat trips

Report Check-In

unable to enter with our dogs. they said it's because the park can be dangerous? I was not able to convince him that we understood and can take care of our dogs and had to turn around.

The entrance still 11$ Soles per person. Beautiful views but we didn't see much wild life. Maybe the season... The scenery is cool but you can do it in one morning... half day ... We found the coast line down south more impressive than this place. But that is our opinion and still beautiful place! We entered with our dogs ....there is no sign of forbidden or anything.....we didn't ask either....

After the pandemic, it is no longer possible to camp in the reserve, or maybe it's possible, but certainly prohibited. You can only drive a circular road. Also no pets are allowed in, so I turned around. Really a shame all these nice spots are inaccessible now

Report Check-In

Only open for entrance from 9-4pm. 11s per person

After the negative posts to this national reserve our expectations were not were high. - But we found the dunes and especially the coastline with colored beaches (playa roja) and cliffs (cathedral) one of the most impressive stretches of the Peruvian coastline. Really something special.
- in high season crowed during the day, nobody there at night.
- official camping is allowed at playa roja and playa Yumaque (we checked in at Yumaque).

We came from huacachina and we had to pay 11 soles pp anyway

We stopped by today to break up our drive south from Lima. 11 Soles per person to enter and that included parking. We drove to and spent the majority of our time at Playa Las Minas, and had a lovely time. Lots of locals at the beach, clear waters, some birds and wildlife, and an overall nice time.

11sol per person. you can see a lot of animals here but only DEAD. I saw more then 10 dead sealions, booby, penguin. It's called national park just for take money, people do nothing for save wildlife. Besides here a lot of fisherman who destroy nature. Welcome!

Report Check-In

30 S per person included 3 nights camping at Playa Roja, Lagunilla or Playa Yumaque.

Report Check-In

We came here as several people recommended this Reserva, mentioning mainly the part of the Peninsula as recommended. As our OSM maps (Locus) still show the whole area and tracks we were quite surprised that since the "re-opening" the whole peninsula is closed for the visitors. At the moment you can drive a circuito in the south on the mainland...a kind of tourist "highway". Camping is officially only liked at the lagunilla in the tourist camp. We were lucky and no one disturbed us at the Mirador we stayed for the night. For us it is more a fun park for tourists than a Reserva...loads of loud guided buggy tours. Driving on the PE28 to the north we saw several big busses with workers leaving...you get the impression the whole peninsula is closed to protect mining activities in the north....not the nature...also the ruinas can no more be visited. So when you love nature and peace we are afraid this will be no more your place... The only little "highlight" is the additional Route at the end of the circuito which gives you a little undisturbed coast...only some fisherman and locals. All in all we would not do it again.
