Description

Many free spots for a night or two direct near the Lutak or Chilkoot Inlet on Lutak Road. Aprox. 1 km east of ferry terminal there is one paved parking lot with pit toilet, west of ferry terminal just pull outs from the road. We stayed some days in both positions, no problems. No traffic at night!

Latest Check-Ins

Large pullout about half a mile past the ferry, big enough for several rigs. 3 of us here last night, all with water views. Quiet, and lots of sign of bear activity! Further down the road is Chilcoot State Park and it is worth a visit - especially when the salmon are running for fishing or bear watching.
Fairly quiet at night. No services. I get a little phone signal from AT&T.

Report Check-In

Stayed for the night. Six years ago we were on the rest area down the road. This one is a lot more quiet due to the fact that it's beyond the ferry terminal. Amazing views!

Report Check-In

We stayed 3 nights here and at the rest stop. This spot best as less big truck traffic.

Report Check-In

tjere are some pullouts at this road, this place is fine, but the waterfall is loud, only a few cars in the evening, no car at night, also no bears

Report Check-In

Overnight parking at a pullout along Lutak Inlet close to Chilkoot Lake Recreation Site which is a good bear watching location. We saw a 3 year old grizzly at the shore of Lutak Inlet and 2 bears at the fish weir.

Report Check-In

Just some pullouts. Some bigger than others.

The guy at the info center was happy to tell me (we were talking about something else) that we could « camp » for free anywhere along this road as long as there’s no sign forbidding it. So there you go !
