Description

Free no facilities. There is a nice ~300m² big open air ~32℃ natural pool. It is great to enjoy the warm water while looking at the stars or eat your breakfast. We were there on Thursday and Friday. It is very popular with the locals, there were several families swimming here during daytime - unfortunately some even with a bum-bum car or more. Luckily they all leave at sunset so till about 10:00 in the morning you have the pool for your own. The area is totally quiet at night, but the pity is quite trashy - only the pool is surprisingly very clean. If you like a natural warm pool or silence you are right here, if you like it absolute clean you'll be fine in Yura thermals.
**To get here **
leave the main road at about 71km, where some houses and the weigh station Balanza are located. Go down the curvy dirt road about 3-4 km, at the beginning of the first village turn left and cross the train track. About 1km later the road goes down into a canyon. Turn left and go on the botton of the canyon and follow the path through the canyon about 1km to a big parking place at the pool.

quiscos thermal water. here in the river there are pools about 40 to 50 cm deep with water at about 32 degrees. there is space around to park. known to locals and quite busy especially on weekends. the water is clean but there is a lot of waste around. you have to travel a little less than 5 km to access it via a track from the main road. the last km is in the river where there are a lot of stones. to avoid in a camper van. suitable for raised vehicles. we spent a quiet night there with our 15 ton 4x4 truck. final access is just for large vehicles.

We arrived here in the evening, saw the beginning of the last part of the road (last 1 km) and decided that it would be too tricky for our Kombi. This road was full of mess. So we didn't visit.

absolutely doable with 2WD - dry season, not really good rocky road. we even met Peruvian in normal car. some trash around but not too bad. really nice bath and quiet night here.

Report Check-In

We arrived at sunset and did not see anyone all night. But someone in a car with loudspeakers did get close (on the ridge above?), waking Isabelle up. The traffic on the paved road on the mountain is also audible. In the morning, the birds make more happy noises than the traffic.

The place is extremely trashy. People leave everything: from bottles, cans and chips wraps to diapers.

Took a bath in the shallow (30 cm) pools and washed myself. Nice, but not hot like a bath at home.

The first Peruvians arrived at 8:00, just before we left.

Report Check-In

The riverbed is probably washed out during the last rains. Riverbed access definite impossible for 2 wd and rigs higher than 2.5m.
Warmwater area very muddy and dirty, not worth visiting anymore.

Report Check-In

Impossible to drive on the riverbed (last km) but possible by walking.
Warm water ok. no deep (30cm). A little bit dirty...

We can confirm: water is still there and still warm, still for free. However, locals do not really appreciated this place (as many others in Peru). Anyway it really worth visiting the place.
