Latest Check-Ins

A free campground on a small lake. Pit privies. Potable water. There was a lot of trash left on our site by others, despite the presence of a nearby dumpster. The sunset view was beautiful and it was delightfully breezy. There is a fishing dock out over the water. Beware of goats heads, we painfully ran into some. We have no ATT coverage, but Verizon is available.

Report Check-In

Early to mid March 2023, we stayed at Skipout lake, Black kettle national grassland recreation site with our 33 foot 5th wheel RV. Like all national parks our stay is limited to 14 days. It gets cold here at night and was very windy most days. Skipout lake is about 12 miles west of Cheyenne Ok.. There are about 3 or 4 spots that 30 - 44 foot RVs can level up at. Good turn around at the end of the road. Restrooms, drinking water (I'd still filter the water), and trash bins are available. Two backup trailer spots are here, not level. Small boat ramp and a couple of fishing docks. Two trail heads. Lots of wild life, be careful and watchful when driving. Lots of tent sites. Lake gets busy on the weekends with fisherman and weekend campers. The lake view is breathtaking. Dump spot is at a Flying J in Sayre, Ok ($10.00 charge). Exchange 30 gal propane, gas, and disel in Cheyenne. An indian battle tourist site is in Cheyenne. Locals say this site is very full during hunting season.
Verizon coverage is nill. AT&T at top of hill 2 miles east of site. Few miles west is Reydon, nice cafe, and a gas station, not much else.
Elk City is a hour drive to the east for Walmart, Walgreens, and major services.
Need RV repair? Tosh's Mobile/Camper Rrpair 580-303-0228, http://toshmobilerv.repair , services most of Oklahoma, northern Texas, and southern Kansas. For someone to service such a large area with fast, reliable service at reasonable rates is hard to find these days. Tosh did a repair for me, saved me from being stranded in the middle of nowhere.

paved lot with grassy areas to pitch tents. each area has fire ring, though fire restrictions are in place. this place is dead right now but the facilities and grounds make me believe it gets very crowded.

no Verizon service. Google fi lte two bars.

Report Check-In

Nice small lake with a few campsites. Trash and vault toilets and water spigots. We got here during a storm and afterwards the light was beautiful on the lake. Busy with people fishing on the weekends. We were the only campers. There's a hiking trail around the lake but didn't go all the way around because of flooding of the river on the west side. All kinds of animals. Saw an armadillo!

Great spot a little out of the way but worth it to get away

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot in the edge of a small body of water. There are toilets and a place to fill up non potable water. No running water or hook ups. Free and there are a few places to park an rv/camper

nice quite area for tenting and has large gravel lot for RV. tried to do the hike around the lake but 1/2 way around was all swamp with no clear way through.

Great free camping area with a nice view over the lake. There’re restrooms and picnic tables. Online it mentioned about potable water, but I didn’t need any so didn’t go looking. Sign says you can stay for up to 21days - so I guess that’s enough for most folk! There’re more camping places in the Black Kettle National Grassland - just Google it to find their website with map or the link I provided below may work. A trip to the nearby Washita Battlefield Visitor Centre in Cheyenne, is definitely worth a visit.
