fairy chimneys heaven, great for sunset and sunrise. we camped here late october so there were no balloons in the morning BUT they launched at midnight and we could see their fires bobbing over sword valley so we think you should have a good view in summer season.
but in any case view of red valley is magnificent. there is a very large flat area suitable for large rigs - if you have a small rig like ours you can continue onto a more narrow ridge with drops down into valleys on both sides.
easy access from asphalt road (2wd ok), take a left after the cafe just before the entrance to red valley toll gate.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Great spot! In the morning you hear the preparation of ballons!
Amazing experience
What an incredible camping spot. Fantastic views over the red valley, ideal for sunset and morning balloon watching. We had the area to ourselves, very quiet.
Report Check-InSecond time we come here. Last time was in 2018. From our point of view the best place in this area. We love it. And this time we got to see the balloons. Cool !
Report Check-InQuiet because of Covid, but you can see that this is a popular picnic & tourist spot. The track down to the very end is now blocked by a barrier, but you can still camp at the main location (as per the GPS coordinates). To get down Sunset Point Road to access the track to this location you have to pay 30TL, but keep the ticket because you can come and go (I presume for 24 hours, but don’t know for sure.
Report Check-InAwesome place. Things have changed yet again though. It's now 10 lira per car (not per person) to use the road. The sand barrier is flattened, so it's possible to go to the end again.
Report Check-InVery nice spot. However, it should be noted that you are in the view of a few cafes along the main road and it can be windy.
So we drove to this spot (38.646316, 34.857621) where we had more privacy and were protected from the wind. 4x4 could be required to get to that point depending on the condition of the track.
Report Check-InI came here late at night after heavy rain. Track was still very doable on a motorcycle. There is a sand barrier now that prevents cars from going till the end. By motorcycle it's possible to follow a track from the parking at the right side where the "cliff" drops.
Report Check-InYou have to pay 4 TYL for using the street. Really nice view. Make sure you pass the barrier, after the parking lot (GPS Data in this spot), on the right an drive to the end of the street.
Report Check-InWe first couldn't find the place because there was a guy at a small hut collecting money. Because nobody mentioned it here before that you have to pay we thought we were wrong and returned. But it is right. You leave the mainroad following the sign “Panoramic View Point“. After some meters you pay 4 TL pp. After another few hundred meters you take the track to the left. There is a closed barrier leading to the smaller point at the end but you can just drive around!
Report Check-InWhile the views here are unquestionably impressive and the balloons in the morning spectacular, as a place to camp or is not the best. At sunset, we became the tourist attraction when a group of Chinese arrived and started taking pictures of us eating our dinner outside our Defender. People came and went throughout the evening, and at dawn to watch the balloons. The site is very public and there are now two barriers. One closing the track leading to the smaller place along the ridge. If it's just about the views and the balloons it's great, bit not a place for a restful camp.
Report Check-InIndead a magical place. We drove all the way to the end for the best spot. There’s some good flat space. Had quite some wind at night but it stopped after midnight. Comes with Cappadocia sometimes. At sunrise you’ll have a amazing view over the valley and the balloons. It’s romantic, so there will be a wedding soon :)
Report Check-InAmazing spot, getting pretty popular now, many camper vans here but still enjoyable, the area is big enough! Just amazing
Report Check-InStayed for three nights. Wonderfull spot! Windy during thunder storm, but worth it with all balloons in the morning. Locals camp here in weekends. Friday night was little busy compared to evenings before at which we were with 2 overlanders in total.
Report Check-InIf you are lucky to see the balloons go up, this is probably one of the best wild camp spots you will ever experience. Go all the way to the end.
Report Check-InStunningly beautiful place to stay! It is far more beautiful than you can imagine from the pictures! be sure to get up at sunrise (5:50 for early April)! We stayed for two nights and met a nice couple from the Netherlands. bring some firewood as there are not many trees around. you might find some dead wood in the valleys tho. definitely recommend this place!
Report Check-InAs described. Quite amazing view of balloons and valley. We stayed three nights, all very quiet. One morning four jeeps with tourists came by to see balloons at 7:00am. It was all fun. I
Report Check-InOh yeah, peeeeerfect spot. It was so quiet that I woke up at the night because no sounds! We did not see balloons cos of the wind and rain. We drove there with our small 2wd van, in the dark.
Report Check-InWow! This place really went beyond my expectations! The national park is surreal and the campspot is very calm and a good place to look at the balloons in the morning.
This is best wild camping spot we found - ever. Its perfect to be surrounded by morning Cappadocia ballons and far enough not to hear the tourists. Drive up to end of the road for best spot.
For tap water, drive back to the main road turn left round security gate to Panaromic View Point, there is running water behind souvenirs stalls.
Perfect spot! Stayed here for two nights and enjoyed the view. In the morning some balloons were flying directly over my head just a few meters above.
Report Check-InGreat spot, surprisingly clean. When the balloons launch they will wake you up at sunrise. But it’s pretty cool nevertheless (or because of it) !
