They no longer allow camping here. 1km further up the road you can camp at the lodge for $10 pp and it.is beautiful there. The security guard said yes initially, he was very nice. The manager however came by later and said no camping.

Report Check-InWas there yesterday and the security guy told me to ask permission to Hotel Hacienda Guachipelín which owns the land. Ended-up staying at their finca car park, provided with the fact I eat dinner at the restaurant (15USD)
Report Check-InJust before entrance to Rincon De La Vieja National Park, in the parking lot next to Rio Negro Hot Springs across from the waterfall trail. There was very little road traffic throughout the night, and lots of wind which was a nice change from the hot coast. Free! We asked the kids running the hot springs if it was tranquilo aqui and they said yes. The park closes at 3pm so this is a good free place to camp and get to the park early if you plan to do the big 7hr volcano hike.
