National Park Entry | Tourist Attraction

As we had no permit to the park's campground, we told the guard we were going to Big Rock waterfall and we would sleep at San Miguel campground. We camped at Big Rock's parking lot. He also asked how many days we would stay and where we were from.

Entrance is free. The guard just asked for our name and country of origin.

⚠️ Dirt muddy road becomes slippery when wet ! Better to take it with a 4WD if it rains and to take it carefully with a 2WD if it rained before 😊

no donations, no entry fee.
we just had to write down the drivers name and origin.
say that you will camp in the pine ridge lodge and nobody will ask for a camp permission.
the road in the Park ist better than the road to the park.

Save yourself lots of explaining and get a camping permit in Forestry office in Belmopan or San Ignacio. The guard at the entrance told us there are only 2 options: camp at the Pine ridge lodge without the permit or at the forestry campground in Augustine with the permit. As people usually don't know about it the foresters in Augustine will let you stay but you will have to explain the situation to everyone who you will meet (each military patrol, private security guards, foresters, any other workers in the area..). Either way we had a good time and met lots of interesting people.

Guard shack for National Park entry. No fee, just wanted to log driver's name.

Free entry, but friendly guard asked for "park donation". We gave 2 BZ/1 USD.

Guard wanted a donation for the medical expenses of a local. There were many signatures on his list.
