Cool off in the shade while everyone else is drenched in sweat on their organized tours! Nice (distant) view of Valle de la Luna and absolutely no one around. Only smaller rigs will actually fit under the tree (we were able to pop the top on our Westy) but the road getting here is pretty bad. The main section of the road is like moon dust with deep ruts. You can drive on the tracks that run parallel and it's a little better. Would either recommend 4x4 or a ballsy 2wd (that would be us). Also have Claro 3G out here.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Really great place to camp. I didn't see anyone else except for a couple tourist vans in the evening and a couple more in the morning.
Totally quiet. Great view. It was completely calm with no wind when I stayed.
Very weak Claro signal.
Report Check-Inlovely spot for sunset and sunrise. a few tours close by at the tree closer to the road for sunset but then went away and quiet night.
Report Check-Inspend 4 nights here. no problem. friendly staff of the atacama lodge guided tour offered us l
food. very nice.
We spend afternoon and night there, it’s a beautiful spot! It would be perfect without a very unfriendly guided tour showing up at 10pm with music to Watch the stars and who parked 10 meters from us because «we are here every night, if you’re not happy take your van an leave »
My advice, enjoy this place for the shade in afternoon and after just Park 100 meters further.
