Latest Check-Ins

Good, quite night. We parked at the East side of the building.

Report Check-In

Enough space for 6-8 cyclists? There’s easily enough room for 10+ tents in here! Great place, I’m also surprised how clean it is. No sign of toilet paper or much trash, I suppose this place isn’t used as a drinking/party spot by any locals

Report Check-In

Great spot, approx 7 clean rooms to sleep in. Front door and back door open (with a wire hook latch), and two windows open. AGVP worker told us it is allowed to stay inside here. It is possible to also pitch a few tents out the back as the surrounding trees and sheds provide excellent shelter. Small river nearby but has plenty of animal sign around and lots of small worm-like critters floating in it so filter and treat carefully. No sign of the resident armadillo unfortunately, maybe he's hiding from the wind today.

Report Check-In

Slept here one night arriving from El Calafate with the bike.

Really does the job, protect you from the wind, enough space for 6-8 cyclist.

River near, was nice !

Report Check-In

Local excelente para passar a noite, com vários cômodos. Infelizmente alguém deixou cocô por lá, sendo melhor escolher um cômodo mais distante. Utilizei a agua do rio próximo para banho e cozinha.

Report Check-In

Still open, can stay inside, don't drive from the river. Very friendly amarillo here

Great place on the way from El Calafate to Puerto Natales. Nice little creek and a big parking lot for Campers. Inside the old police station you can sleep as well.

Report Check-In

Nice clean enough place to hide from the wind. river isn't great but is fine for cooking with, and having a wee wash

Report Check-In

Looks like everyone was here during summer hehe
Well yes this is an awesome spot to stop and to camp inside away from the wind/rain and to get a few degrees more. Still clean in 2022! I think someone tried to sort of block the front door but… why? Let this living museum open :) (and clean!)

Report Check-In

Awesome unexpected place. And clean. I stayed 3 nights there. Thank you whoever it is that upcycled this wood stove and made it work. You can cook on it and it really heats up the place quickly.
Some dead animals around, no more cat, but mice still live in here. I didn't die form Hanta so far though..

Report Check-In

When I arrived, three cyclist there told me Police had come by and said it's not permitted to camp indoors. They don't like people writing on the walls. They will be reusing the building in the future.
I stayed three nights. First night alone and peaceful. The next day many visitors came for a look round. In the evening. 4 cyclists stayed and 3 the following night.
It's a popular place.
There are 5 habitable rooms plus a communal area. You could also pitch a tent or sling a hammock in the stable.
Huge area to park a camper. Water is a little coloured but was fine boiled. I didn't try it raw.
Peaceful in the day but can get busy at night.
For trash, take it with you plus a bit. Trash collection doesn't come here.

se we were here Last Time in the 25.11.19 and the Front door of the building was Open. today, Is the 2.1.20 and nos it's closed. so we can't Cook Inside while it was raining. but behind the building ist still a wind shelter. it's still nice here.

Report Check-In

Incredibile spending the night here. Just me, my bike and this nature.. Really nice drink a beer reading the walls. It's clean and we get to keep that way. The rules are on the door of room Pampa II. The front door is open, so just get in and enjoy..

Report Check-In

I passed by here during lunchtime and needed to check it out. it was clean. I would boil the water from the river before drinking. it's an awesome placed to spend the night. How many times do you have the chance to sleep in a police station without being in trouble? Not many times. it was too early and I wanted to finish riding on the dirt road today, so I moved on.

Report Check-In

good place when it s windy. Still clean enough, hope it will stay like this for years.....

Report Check-In

This is an amazing place! I took advantage of the brooms left behind and swept up some. If we all do a little bit of upkeep this will remain one of those gems that we all love to experience. There is a running creek nearby to get water (we filtered it). There are a number of outbuildings but the Police Building itself has an open door at the back. We did see mouse evidence so we made sure we didn't leave anything out for them. There is a cat living in one of the outbuildings.
If someone has a large pucket or pail they could "bucket flush" the toilets that people have used even though there is no running water in the building. This is such a health hazard....please go outside to do your business.
This building has only one window inthe living room broken out. A small table with 2 chairs was in a dining area. An awesome place to spend a day or two!!!

Report Check-In

Nice shelter with 2 clean rooms for cyclists and a room to use as kitchen/bike storage. Access to water is 100m.

Report Check-In

camped next to the river here, there is nice soft grass and a few hills to shelter behind. still had a little bit of wind but nothing major

Report Check-In

entrance puching strong one Windows next to the argentina flag !!

Report Check-In

FYI this section of road is dirt, unpaved. More miles but quicker to used the 40 :-(

Report Check-In

Police Station is locked again but there is a clean and dry shed just behind it that protects from all winds (used to be the police horse shed). Water with medium quality from the creek.

Report Check-In

If you are thinking to pitch your tent at the river place you are crazy. Much better on the earlier descent coming from the ruta 40. Alternately this older police station is perfect to spend the night on. There are some food supplies too.
PLEASE: leave the place in better conditions than you found it otherwise in a season or two it will be a shit hole.
There is sweep and supplies to keep it cleaner than you found it.
