Description
Really awesome place to climb during the day and camp at night!
Climbing: 30+ single pitch routes of 20-25 m height. Grades range from 5.6 to 5.12d. All routes are well-bolted.
Camping: El Maitenal campground is in a lush green valley full of majestic trees. The campground features windbreakers, huts, cold shower and toilet facilities. There is a mobile phone and 3G coverage on the property.
Camping costs 2500 p/p.
The new owners are currently building Earthship inspired campground facilities using recycled materials from the area.

Climbing is on privat land, you need to ask owner for allowance. He charges 2000$ per person per day.
Report Check-InEl Maitenal is a small climbers campground tucked off the side of Puerto Ibanez. The couple who owns the place are amazing people. I stopped in to check out the climbing and ended up staying for a week and doing some volunteer work on the earthship home they are building. It's true camping in the Campo so facilities are minimal but clean! It's been one of my favorite spots on the Carretera Austral. If you're here in January the cherries are so thick they look like grapes, lots to share so don't be shy!
Report Check-InAs described, very quiet, lovely area. The entry is not well signed, only the words “El Maintenal”, you have to pass two gates.
On sunny days with warm water in showers. Climbing spots 20 minutes to walk. Camping 2500 pp.
Beautiful drive to this area, especially the waterfall on the way. Owners weren't here, but the caretaker welcomed us and showed us where to park. We didn't go to camping area because we're in a truck camper. Bathroom clean with seat and paper, surprise for this remote of a location :). Nice washing up sink too. Grounds around facilities are shared with sheep so do watch your step.
