Latest Check-Ins

Wonderful location but the entrance is really bad. I have a 4x4 Sprinter with a locking rear differential, suspension work and oversized tires and needed all that to get in. I think the recent rains have added to the ruts. Challenging but doable in the right vehicle. Once up that entry, it’s great and quiet.

I got up the road in a high top FWD van. It’s is extremely rutted with deep holes and a 10 inch rock ledge to overcome before the road begins to level out. I don’t know if it was harder going up or coming down. Both scared me. Going up I couldn’t keep the line to the left and slipped sideways. Fortunately, I reached the ledge and got enough traction for the FWD to “claw” up and over. Coming down a rear wheel lifted going over the ledge. I guess coming down was the scariest. I might have taken a better line down, but either way (left, middle, right) was problematic. If I had been in a 4WD, this section would not have been memorable. I think the ruts are mostly being created by the 2WDs and AWDs spinning their wheels going up. Anyway, the 2WD vs. 4WD question could be moot at some time in the near future; it’s pretty bad now.

Awesome view, but not entirely BLM land. This section that is marked is privately owned. Another section of the land is Santa Rosa wilderness BLM this is confirmed using BLM land maps of the area and onX hunt.

Road is rutted immediately coming in, road is slightly sandy and very smooth after, but took is slow in my 170” non ext sprinter van.

Amazing views, can get windy and after you pass the Vista Point headed up the hill, there is a turn on your right to get to the actual camping area. Cell phone coverage is nothing to praise here, but the view makes up for it.

As stated great place to park up and camp. Be very careful of the very deep ruts when you turn in. Advise getting out to assess close up.

My GPS made the turn in coordinates to be:
N 33.64617 W 116.40034

The camp spots are correct.

The turn in is just after the camp spots.

Great safe natural fire pit in the rock pile I parked up by, and slept by.

I've been out for more than two weeks now on this little jaunt. So I'm leaving my residual split logs here.

Was going to try this spot out, but the road up to the spot from the highway is very sketchy and well outside my comfort zone for my large promaster van. Could maybe do it with 2wd but no way would I try it in a larger vehicle

Report Check-In

Really rutted at the entrance, but worth easing your vehicle over that mess (I did it in a non-4WD), as the rest of the path up is in decent shape and the view just can’t be beat.

Great wild camping location. Quiet at night. No one bothered me except and awl but got used to the whoowhoo pretty fast. Very deserted place- sporadic cell connection with Sprint.

What a hidden treasure this spot is. Several camp sites with spectacular views of the Palm Springs valley below. Found a site that was wind protected with fire ring. Only 1 other camper up here. The stars and the valley light below put on a show.

Amazing, amazing spot. The initial hill off the highway felt pretty dicey, even with all terrain tires, and I wouldn’t attempt this without a rugged vehicle.

Report Check-In

Awesome spot, good views, silent because it is above the road. Many places to choose from.

Pretty legit primitive camping. Great views and just 10/15 min out of town. The wind was pretty gnarly in the evening but died out around 10:30/11pm and was calm and quiet after that. 4⭐️ only because of the wind.

Amazing views. Well worth the quick stay.

Great spot near Palm Springs. Plenty of space for multiple people. There are a couple spots away from the road that are quiter.

Great spot in the hills to see Palm Springs at night. When I was there it was very windy and I could barely pitch my tent.
