Description

Awesome abandoned stone hotel overlooking the ocean. Visible for a second when passing Northbound on Highway 1. Turn off towards the beach at a creepy graveyard of unmarked crosses, then pass through abandoned village and over a small hill to reach level parking behind hotel. Easy camping in cars or tents, or sleep in hotel itself. One of my favorite spots in Chile.

Surprisingly little trash for Chile. Doesn't look to heavily used, maybe because it's in the middle of absolutely nowhere.

Edit:
Didnt saw any graveyard. Just also abandoned "village". Lots of "roads", just try to get south of tje village to the ocean, than you will find the mansion.

this is an abandoned guano processing village that went bust after the Pacific war between Chile and Peru. there are many places to camp but work your way around to the south of the mansion and you will get the best spots

Nice and, nobody mentioned yet, with Entel signal. Quiet night.

Amazing place! It was a bit creepy arriving here in the dark with the fog, but the ambiance made exploring the mansion even more fun! I was unable to make it to the marker in the dark, but there are arrows painted on the ground to guide you. They are made for pedestrians, though, not cars. There was a lot of crabs on the beach and they were curious about my flashlight, they would be easy to catch but I left them alone. It's not the most beautifup campspot, but it's definitely a good change from all the desert and beach spots around!

I noticed quick a lot of oil filters around, some of them very recent. I eventually found the building responsible for it : an old garage! It seems locals go there to use the ramp. If your clearance is too low to crawl under your car easily, that's always an option, haha!

Good place to spend the night. We parked our motorhome on a flat nitrate terasse overlooking the harbor bay. Must have been quite a place in those days.

maybe it was clean a couple of years ago but now tons of garbage. a rat made a hole in my tent to get some food. There are lots of nicer places along the coast

Can recommend this place. One of the more nicer spots we visited for wildcamping the last 4 months in Chile. A lot of spots more south of this one here haven't been so special. The villa ruin has a 2 terraces where oir tent (2 ppl) fits. Also some wind shelter.
Easily reachable from the highway with every vehicle. Other places had more trash.
