Description

There are many little booth selling the vignette at the border. Category D1 (car/small van) is 2975 HUF (~10 EUR).

It is sold at the official price if you have Hungarian currency already. If paying with credit card it will cost 14 EUR. If changing EUR they will also use this terrible exchange rate.

Alternatively, there is a petrol station 1 km after the border (still on the highway) selling the vignette. There you can pay with the credit card at normal price and they even have an ATM. If using the ATM watch out in which currency you want to be debited, if you let them debit you in EUR it is also a very bad exchange rate.

Latest Check-Ins

We passed today the Serbian border with our track (H 3.80 / B 2.45 m, 16 tons) on a car line without any issues.
But (!) on the Hungarian side they made a huge drama 😡and requested as - being already on the last check point- to go back and to take the bus line! This although there was no problem for our track to pass, what we also did.
But nevertheless - for campers >3.5 tons take on the Hungarian border always the bus line!

Border crossing took us 2.5 hours… 8 terminals but only 2 open, it didn’t seem extremely crowded just not well organised. Waited in line for ages! At the front it all went fast: short check of the car, asked if we had alcohol. Maybe it would have been a better idea to take the small border…

Is purgasing the e-vignette at hu-vignette.com maybe an idea?
