Latest Check-Ins

Just bring paper copies of permits and passports. We did not have them for the permit, as it was issued in Dushanbe but we were coming from Osh. They were not content with just taking photos of our documents here, unlike every other checkpoint. We waited 3 hours, and eventually the (very kind) captain came out and took photos, and we were let through.

We are 2 in 2' motorfycles. They asked for GBAO, then passport copy. they said if no passport copy need to go back to Khoroug to make copy and come back. After some discussion they asked for 200 somoni for both of us, we were late and no choice. They didn't check anything else.

Quick and easy. Handed over a copy of our GBAO and then a simple car check.

Report Check-In

Easy but slow checkpoint for us on two motorcycles. They asked to see inside one of our pieces of luggage and one pannier. No thorough search, no request for money. No problems with photo copies of our registration and passport and permit for GBAO.

We hide our knifes but they didn't look for them, actually they barely checked the car. But it was obvious they were looking for an excuse to get some money... First they siad we needed the original GBAO permit and not the photocopy, them that they couldn't let us pass because it was alredy 6pm (we arrived at 5.50pm and they kept us talking for 10 mins), them that paying 150 som they could open the gate,... After been there for have an hour begging them to let us pass they finally opened the gate with a smile.

They were sceptical about my kitchen knive. Only after insisting I would need it to peel my potatoes they eventually gave in. Other than that easy check point. Wanted to quickly check bags of our motorbikes but not thoroughly, next time put the knive at the bottom.

Report Check-In

They wanted to check everything, permit, registration, original passport, and copies. Then they wanted to go through all the luggage. Kept asking what different things were. Felt like they were looking for a reason to get $ from us. Thankfully everything was in order.

Only handout of the permit. No visa or passport check. Done in 2 min. Easy!
