we tried to cross from Kyrgestan to Kazakhstan but where told that this border is closed for passengers just for truck traffic.

Crossed from Kazakhstan into Kyrgyzstan.

All easy although little English is spoken, try to find somebody who speaks English. Remarkable friendly at the Kyrgyz side, they seemed very happy we wanted to visit Kyrgyzstan. Total run through for both border posts took us about 1 hour.

in line with trucks but could get in first place after intensive talking with border post and truckers. you will be sent here with big rigs, like trucks, got licencend for 9 pax, was painfull waiting. you have to follow the truck routine.
Try to cross border far east of Almaty!! heading sharyn canyom and lake Ysyk-Köl.

Kyrgyzstan side was fine but coming into Kazakhstan they pulled us aside and searched the entire car, put it through a scanner, got the drugs dog etc. Long and painful process!
