Latest Check-Ins

since some years elephants are around. Broken trees are most likely caused by them.

Report Check-In

Nice campsite very close to busy waterhole. We had lions walk through camp (while we were away at the waterhole...) and saw the lions along the road the next morning. The site is well shaded with two firepits, one new as of 2023 it seems. Road up from waterhole to camp was very undulated/bumpy. Pit toilet and bucket shower.

Report Check-In

Used to be a nice place. Unfortunately some campers break down living trees to cut fire wood. So less shade now (see pictures).
Bees are living in the toilet, so better use the bush.

Report Check-In

Agree with all comments made. Saw a lot of animals at the waterhole in the middle of the day. Around the pans we saw plenty of Wildebeest, Sprinbok, Gemsbok and vultures. 6 Elephants were seen not far from the camp. No lions seen or heard . The track to Xade gate is an easy sand drive and mainly overgrown so you will get lots of scratches. Unavoidable.

Report Check-In

Nice campsite in the middle of nowhere, very quiet. We heard lions on the night.
Toilet and shower, no water.
On the morning, some kilometers away on the middle pan, we saw a lion with two females.

Report Check-In

The route from Xade to Piper Pan is a bit challenging because of the thick bushes (scratching your car) and the deep sand, but very doable with a 4x4. It is the track from Xade to Ghanzi that is more problematic. The campsite is fairly close to the water hole (2km) where we saw 2 lions, vultures and lots of other animals. Elephants walk close to the camp. Campsite is basic, but has a pit toilet and bucket shower. If you are looking for the 'alone in the desert feeling' Piper Pan is great. Didn't see anyone in the area for 2 days.

Report Check-In

A small clearing in the bush with a bucket shower and a pit toilet.

Report Check-In

We passed by the campsite and did not stay. It's an open flat space, bucket for bucket shower still there. Unfortunately, pit toilet was filled with rubbish (beer cans etc.) This time of the year, not all roads around the pans were driveable due to heavy rains in the last weeks. You really can get stuck !
