Lodge rooms are just tents really, horrendous prices for what you get.
Nice bar and restaurant area.
Permanent running water in this section of the river (ankle deep) so stay at the community camp and take your deck chair and sit in the river to cool down.
Lion and leopard occasionally in the area btw.
Price now 250 NAD ppn. We did not stay and went to the beautiful Khoarib Community Campsite.
Report Check-InNicely located campsite in a valley, some 200 meters away from the lodge. They have 10 pitches, of which number 5 to 8 are located next to the river. There is a decent and clean ablution block, where warm water can get a bit restricted when they host large overlander groups. At the Lodge they have a pool, a nice restaurant and great bar, where you can sit in the shade and enjoy your sundowner beer. The staff is really friendly, and makes you feel welcome. Also many thanks to the management, as they provided some help to find some equipment for our car. They even searched for it in Opuwo when they went there for business. As we were stuck for a longer period, due to delivery times of the car parts, they even offered us the possibility to hand in a shopping list, as they received new supplies. By the way, they also bake great fresh bread every day. Our unplanned long stay due to car problems was smoothed by the people and the facilities at the Lodge, including the necessary Internet to order the car parts and track the delivery. Guys, thanks a lot!
Report Check-InVery nice campsite for N$ 150 pppn. Campsites have a braai area, electricity, water tap, light and some have nice views on the river. At the lodge there is a swimming pool, which is small but refreshing, and has a nice grassy area around it with lounge beds. Food at restaurant is not cheap (330 for dinner/ 110 for breakfast), but lunch is reasonably priced and portions are good. Same goes for the WiFi (prices start at N$380). Service is really good. The pathway to the bar/restaurant/swimming pool area is lit at night. The shared ablutions are clean. Good place to relax after Kaokoveld.
Report Check-InVery nice campsite on the banks of the Hoanob river. Sites 4,5,6 right next to river and nice shade. N$150 pp/ night. Sites have water and power. Clean ablutions.
Report Check-InCamping sites 500 paces from lodge facilities across uneven, open ground (like a super-heated cat litter), unlit at night! N$150 pppn. Pool nice, staff friendly. Excursions available. Power and braai stands at sites, shared roofless ablutions with flushing toilets and hot showers (caretaker lights donkey). Campsites 5-8 on edge of bank overlooking river, 1-4 further back but closer to ablutions. Set menu dinner at lodge N$220 pp - simple but nice.
