We were woken by Sheriff's Department at midnight and asked to leave as no camping here.

Small (but not tiny) parking lot at a trailhead along a road about 1.5 miles from downtown Ojai. Very convenient location! No “no overnight parking” sign, but given the quasi-urban location I was a little self-conscious sleeping here. That said, I spent two nights bivy’d here without any problem. The parking lot does start getting used first thing in the morning, and there is some minor road noise, but for an in-town spot it worked well for me. No services. Full bars on Verizon.

I spent one night here, great little spot though it gets pretty busy once the sun comes up.

Nice little parking area above the Ventura River Preserve Trails, a 1,600 acre preserve. We stopped by around 5:00 pm to check it out and it was packed with cars. We figured that as it got dark all the hikers would be leaving. Went to Ojai for awhile and when we returned after sunset, there was only one car here. Easy parking spot. No utilities. Pretty!

Small parking lot for the Ventura River Preserve on Rice Rd. Can be busy during the day, but quiet at night. You may hear the horses across the road banging against the gates. Beautiful sunsets and river bottom and mountain views. Nice hikes in the preserve and you will find there also swimming holes, best in spring and early summer, then they dry slowly out.
