Road under construction | Warning

Daily road closure between Leymabamba and Cajamarca. Road is totally closed between 8am and 5 pm. We left Leymabamba at 6am in order to pass (on advice of police). This road is narrow, twisty and gorgeous. We made it in 8 hours in a big rig.

sign says closures until April. there is a detour to la balsa, however its unpaved gravel and 102km according to maps.me.
road today (sunday) very muddy, lots of rain, looked like some stretches were graded but not compacted. rain and traffic -> mud bath. could be difficult with bikes.
apart from that, beautiful road!

No roadworks anymore between Leymebamba and Chachapoyas, just here and there some mud. We could pass at 11 am without delay.

One more road closure.
Said to be here until December 31th of 2018.
Open: Monday-Friday before 7am, 12-1pm, after 6pm
Saturday: before 7am, after 1pm
Sunday: open all day.
