No longer open to non-residents. You must show proof of residency, a current military ID, or have a handicapped license. The other public beaches on Amelia Island do not allow overnight camping on the beach.

Big parking lot just a short walk to the beach. Facilities have indoor and outdoor showers (mostly all one temperature and cold, there is one temperature controlled shower but I was cold no matter how hot I turned it). Apparently no more driving on the beach but I overnighted in my van in the parking lot with no problem. There were pavilions with loads of picnic tables right near the lot. Absolutely stunning views and really not crowded at all.

Great little beach with clean bathrooms and waterfront camping. The Sheriff’s office was great with checking on campers. This is a relaxed area to camp within feet of the water. Don’t forget to get your permit before driving on the beach though.

Stopped at one of the gas stations that sells permits. They said the beach is now closed to overnight vehicles because a big 4x4 group came through recently and trashed it. Too bad that people have to ruin a good thing.

The $5 daily fee is not a "camping fee" - it's for a beach driving permit. It is only for non-residents of Nassau County (FL). You are exempt if you have a handicapped permit. Four-wheel drive is definitely recommended, as the sand can be very soft and deeply rutted. Often, campers will stay at the farthest north end of the designated beach driving area. Note also that vehicles are not allowed in the paved parking lot from midnight to 5 am, so don't try to park there and schlep your stuff to camp on the beach. We live in Nassau County. Please help us keep this camping privilege by picking up trash and keeping things quiet at night. Beach home residents are very keen to have this area shut down from vehicles and camping as well. Thanks!

Nice beach full of 4 X 4 with huge sand tires. I would never drive my 4X4 Santa fe with our 14 foot trailer on that beach. The sand is much to soft.

Came to recon for future camping sites. Sheriff's department seems to be present on the beach at all times. Make sure you have your permit. facilities look clean. Fires allowed on the beach. Check out the pics.

we stoped at this beach with the intent to stay the nignt. we were pulling our 21 foot camper and made the choice not to go out on the beach. the sand was very soft. There were a few other 4x4 rigs driving on the beach with no problems. we spent a few hrs walking the beach while our kids splashed in the surf. Peters point beach is a great place to check out. The beach is very clean and as a bonus there is a bath house there with showers. I would recommend this stop. DO NOT FORGET there is a 5$ pass to stay the night.

Awesome! If you need a pass, go down the road about a mile to the A1A gas station, they have passes. We wouldn't have been able to go on the beach without 4wd, but we are close to 10k. three other people stayed on the beach along with us. Was really cool listening to the waves all night and waking up to an amazing sunrise.

Obtain a $5 daily permit or $25 annual permit at "flash foods" convenience store nearby. Clean facilities within walking distance of beach camping. 4x4 was not necessary to get on beach. Just use your brain when you drive.
